Four US soldiers killed near Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Four U.S. soldiers were killed in an attack near Baghdad on Wednesday, the second time in as many days that U.S. forces have suffered such heavy casualties in a single incident around the Iraqi capital.

"Four Multi-National Division–Baghdad Soldiers died at approximately 9 a.m. (0600 GMT) today when terrorists attacked their patrol with indirect and small-arms fire northwest of Baghdad," the military said in a statement.

6. Is it just me, or has the daily average really increased lately?

It seems like just the several days, there has been a distinct increase in daily casualties.

I wonder if it has to do with where are troops are going and what operations they are undertaking, or if it represents a change in tactics by the other side.

I also wonder how many more will have to die before this penetrates the attention of a public obsessed with the Grand Old Pedophile scandal.
