Cheney Says Clinton Could Win Presidency
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday he thinks Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton could win the presidency. He said Sen. Barack Obama might be viewed by voters as too inexperienced.

Cheney handicapped the Democratic field of potential candidates in an interview with conservative talk show host Sean Hannity.

"I think Hillary Clinton is a formidable candidate," Cheney said. "I think she could win. I hope she doesn't. I disagree with her on nearly all the issues, but nobody should underestimate her. She's a very serious candidate for president."

Cheney said Obama, an Illinois Democrat, was an "attractive guy. Don't know him well, met him a few times. I think at this stage, my initial take on him was he's been two years as a senator. I think people might want a little more experience than that, given the nature of the times we live in. But certainly, he's an attractive candidate. If he decides to run, he'll be a player on the Democratic side."

33. Actually, he poo-pooed a run from Obama
and practically embraced a run from Hillary.

To point out Obama's limited experience in the US Senate ( after 7 years in the Illinois State Senate, btw) after B*shit was elected with far less relevant experience is laughable.

Hillary doesn't scare them- Barack Obama does.

4. Just exactly WHY are the 'pukes...
so busy telling Dems who their candidate should be?

Just exactly why is this "news" that the 'pukes would like to see Hillary as the Dem nominee in 2008?

Personally, I think they're afraid of Obama, because he doesn't have engender the hatred that Mrs. Clinton does in the "Right" circles (especially the far right circles)...

They do this all the time -- point toward the candidate they think is less likely to win and focus all their concern toward him/her
so unaware Dems think, "Ooooh, that's our best candidate."

6. How much experience did King George have when he ran in 2000?
6 years as Texas Gov.
And as I understand, the Texas legislature only meets a handful of times per year.

12. The TX Legislature meets..
biannually... that is, every OTHER year (odd numbered years, to be exact).

Even when it meets, they are only in session for 140 calendar days (just under 5 months), unless a special session is called (and can only be called by the Governor).

Further, the members of the Legislature are not paid enough to allow them to be full-time politicians. We require that they have real jobs for the remainder of the time they are not in session. Unfortunately, the majority of jobs that allow for time off enough to be in the Legislature are lawyers. I'd like to see a broader range of employment represented, but I just don't see how that could come to pass and still maintain the infrequency with which the Legislature meets.

Also, the Governor isn't all that powerful. The REAL political power in TX is vested in the Lieutenant Governor.

13. Point
That is where the Dems (self included) were complete idiots in estimating the lack of education in the American voter.

When George ran for governor, I thought, "NO WAY can he beat Ann Richards. He's stupid, a silver spoon, Texan wannabe." Crow ingested.

Then, in 2000 I thought, "NO WAY would ALL of America vote in this stupid, silver spoon, Texan wannabe." Second course of crow ingested.

By 2004, I did not expect the American voter to do the right thing.

Hillary can't. Obama can't.

Kerry did, but only because he was running against the most incompetent nincompoop in existence.

We need a governor or a general or (ideally) a former VP whose victory was stolen from him the first time.
Congressional reps are too easy to attack via voting records and such.

31. Why has it been 46 years since a northern candidate has been elected Prez?
And Clinton is really a transplanted Southerner?

I keep hearing liberal this and liberal that, but true liberals never get elected to the Presidency.

The time is ripe to start emphasizing the positive aspects of the New Deal.

I'm tired of listening to what liberals have messed up. We havent had a liberal Prez in 46 years. So who the heck has been minding the store and why are things so f'ed up???

Southern Dixiecrats, and Repubs.

36. Ignore Cheney. He wants the debate to focus on the Clenis and whatever
is hot in big media, now.

He does not want Dems to pick folks that the Democratic grassroots support. They want to drive a wedge between the grassroots and the Democratc leadership.

I would be most happy with either Gore, Clark, Edwards and perhaps Feingold. They all understand the political situation and are all experienced enough with enough contacts to win the general election for the Presidency.
