Iran urges Arab countries to eject U.S. military

The Associated Press
Published: December 5, 2006

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: Iran's top national security official urged his Arab
neighbors Tuesday to eject the U.S. military from American bases in the region
and instead join Tehran in a regional security alliance.

Ali Larijani told Arab leaders attending a conference here that Washington is
indifferent to their interests and will cast them aside as soon as they are no
longer useful.

"The security and stability of the region needs to be attained and we should
do it inside the region, not through bringing in foreign forces," Larijani told
an audience of business and political leaders from the Arab world and elsewhere,
including the United States. "We should stand on our own feet."

Larijani assured Arab leaders listening to his speech that Iran seeks "peaceful
coexistence" and that could replace the security umbrella of U.S. bases now
present in the region, including in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. Other countries
have strong military training and U.S. security guarantee deals.

2. Eject war criminals
I'm for ejecting the military from 50% of their last year's budget and
hearing their good ideas on where to cut back.

The war criminals at the pentagon and the congress need to see prison for
this heinous ongoing asian crime... the worlds largest terrorist deserves
to be thrown out of every single nation where they're operating, including
stateside bases... let the whole lot sit in diego garcia and eat nuclear
warheads.

It is very understandable why non-terrorist nations want the US military out,
and its about time that terrorism be a crime.

3. pulling back US forces from these countries would reduce hostilites
considerably, IMO.

However, reducing hostilities is not really why the US wants bases there, unfortunately. :-(

4. The US should leave the Persian Gulf altogether
and should stop supporting the tyrants in that region of the world.

5. We should pull our forces from everywhere worldwide
Why are we still in Germany, Japan, South Korea, etc? Almost every single base we have in these countries is a leftover remnant of a prior war. It's been 50 years since the Korean War, and 60 since WWII. There is no more Cold War enemy to contain. In addition, we now have the technology and ability to transport large numbers of troops anywhere in the world, if the need arose. There really is no reason to continue keeping overseas military bases.
