U.S. Deaths in Iraq Exceed 9-11 Count
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The U.S. military death toll in Iraq has reached 2,974, one more than the number of deaths in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States, according to an Associated Press count on Tuesday.

4. We have killed over 100 Iraqis for every dead WTCer
And Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. So why is the MSM making this connection?

10. It's a human fascination with numbers.
And when the number is 10 times the number killed in the WTC, they'll note it again.

6. U.S. deaths in Iraq exceed 9-11 count
U.S. deaths in Iraq exceed 9-11 count

By CHRISTOPHER TORCHIA, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two more American soldiers were killed in Iraq, officials said Tuesday, pushing the U.S. military death toll to at least 2,974 — one more than the number killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The tragic milestone came with the deaths of the two soldiers Monday in a bomb explosion southwest of Baghdad, the military said.

The deaths — announced Tuesday — raised the number of troops killed to 2,974 since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes at least seven military civilians.

The Sept. 11, 2001, attacks claimed 2,973 victims in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Opponents of President Bush have criticized him for raising the attacks as a justification for the protracted fight in Iraq

The "War on Terror" has been a complete and total failure. And despite the results of last month's elections, the little prick in the White House is no less delusion than the very day his nightmare of a presidency began.

This cannot be allowed to continue. Impeach - if not for us than for our soldiers and the people of Iraq.

And no argument can convince me otherwise.

These bastards are lying motherfuckers.

And that's the way it is.

25. I do not need evidence.
For I have been there.

Of the 56 guys lost in my unit, only 31 were 'counted' because the rest of them bought it in Laos.

If you are willing to take 'official' stats at face value, so be it.

9. No, it's 2,975 U.S. troops now dead
In a war that had nothing to do with the Iraqis. But the GOP elitists made profits they never thought possible.

15. Can't you just hear American Idiots saying "Finally we got 'em back!"
About a third of my fellow males in this country are so dense they will probably leap to the irrational conclusion that this sad milestone equates to some kind of justice. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Bush will think this very thing when he hears the news. He'll probably want to make a nationwide speech to announce what he's accomplished.

23. Exactly. ZERO is the number of people that died in the cause of this Iraq war.
So really, the first US soldier that died was the first death that exceeded the number of people who died in the cause of this war.

19. The end of the Holiday Soldier death countdown:
The countdown is over.

103 unlucky family got to find out their son/daughter died a hero this Holiday season.

The death toll was truly spectacular, as December alone has beat all Decembers of the previous years of the current iraq war, and December isn't over yet.

Instead of hitting the 3000 US soldier deaths in mid-january, we are expecting to hit it on the new year. With the steady 3.46 deaths a day average in December and 6 days to go, we may hit it early.

Final report for Christmas comes out to be 103. I posted early yesterday and didn't count the deaths that were still coming in.

To get and idea of how stunning Christmas '06 was here are the US soldier fatalities from the previous years of the current Iraq war:

Dec 06: 90 with 3.46 average per day by the 26th day
Dec 05: 68 with 2.19 average per day
Dec 04: 72 with 2.05 average per day
Dec 03: 40 with 1.55 average per day

As of 12/26/06
-----------------
Total US Soldier deaths from the current Iraq war: 2979

US soldier fatalities for December: 90

Holiday total(between Thanksgiving and Christmas '06): 103. Three more died after Christmas - Dec 26th, making it 106 since Thanksgiving.
-----------------

Merry Christmas.

30. Sadly, almost all 911 victims were fatalities
The ratio of wounded to dead in the 911 attack was very low - most were killed. In the Iraq fiasco, there have probably been ten seriously wounded for every death. So the American toll of the Iraq fiasco far outweighs 911.

Besides, Iraq had nothing to do with 911.
