Giuliani To Media: Lay Off My Wife
Source: CBS News

(CBS) NEW YORK Several candidates for president are on a fast pace for fundraising. Democrat Hillary Clinton has set a record and Republican Rudy Giuliani isn't far behind.

But it's what Giuliani said Monday that will likely steal the headlines.

The former New York City mayor is fending off increased media scrutiny of his third wife -- the former Judith Nathan. Rudy is now asking the media to back off.

"Attack me all you want," Giuliani said. "There's plenty to attack me about. Please do it. But maybe, you know, show a little decency."

For that matter it doesn't matter that it was a cousin marriage. In New York 1st cousin marriages are legal. In most states it is not legal. Most states 2nd cousin marriages are legal.

LOL...like the decency you showed Wife #2 and your fucking kids while you trolled your fuckpig, or Wife #3, in and out of the Gracie Mansion?

You got a pre-9/11 mindset, Rudy. This here is big boy time and if you're going to waste your time bitching that we should be fair to your whore, good luck with that nomination.

29. "Show a little decency", indeed.
Like the decency you showed your ex-wife, like the decency you showed the young man who was shot by proclaiming, "He was no choir boy", implying that he deserved to be shot, like the decency you showed to anyone that dared stand in the way of you getting your own way. That kind of decency? I'd say your present wife is getting treated pretty well.

100. Well, misogynist language like "whore" and "fuckpig" really isn't cool
That just reflucts badly on us when you can't be a gentleman. And I'm assuming you're a guy because violent woman hating language like you show (and woman using behavior like Giuliani shows) usually is deeply seated in male fears of inadequacy. We can attack Rudy's record and his wife's political role without debasing our own morals and values.

I mean really, "fuckpig"? Get some help, dude.

43. The New York City press
hardly ever goes after families and personal lives. We knew he was a hounddog and he pretty much got a free ride on that until the press conference announcing his divorce from Donna Hanover - that's when the 9/11 "glow" sloughed off for New Yorkers. So this really is the first time he's been held to account on his personal life. Knowing his temper, he's gonna blow before too long. He doesn't really have the tempermant to run for President.

71. Too late, he's already done that
During a City Hall press conference Rudy once again went after Bill Clinton, in the worst terms decrying his behavior with Ms. Lewinsky. One of the reporters asked about Judy Nathan (both she & Rudy were married to other people at the time), whom Rudy had been dating, taking to official functions as his date, and who was enjoying 24 hour police protection. The reporter asked whether Rudy was being hypocritical, in light of his having a very public affair with a married woman. I have rarely seen such a violent reaction. Rudy began screaming at the reporter, saying "That's a lie! That's a lie! Get him out of here! That's a lie!" He pounded his fists on the podium, his glasses went askew, his hair flopped down over his forehead, and so much saliva flew from his mouth that it seemed as if he were foaming at the mouth.

18. Gee, Rudy, had you spoke out about attacks on Gov
Clinton's wife, Hillary - back in 1992 or 1996 we might have taken you a wee bit more seriously, and viewed your words as a bit less self-serving. I also don't recall any condemnation of attacks on Tipper or Theresa - so why is it that you feel that *you* and *your wife* are so exceptional as to deserve differenht press treatment?

Indeed, your personal behavior, while you were stillm Mayor of NYC - brought your then mistress and your treatment of your wife, right into the spot light.

Good luch with this plea.. guessing it will be met with a whole lot of snickers (not the candy bar variety.)

The "cancer dumper" was Newt Gingrich... Rudy is the one who moved his mistress into the Mayor's mansion while he was married and announced he was divorcing his second wife at a news conference, before he even told her. Oh yeah, he's also the cousin f**ker.

I know it's difficult to keep up with the cast of despicable characters in the Republican party.

My question is where was his concern for leaving the wives out of it when Theresa Heinz was being attacked? What about pre-Senatorial Hillary?

Are NBC affiliates gonna tie Rudy's SNL gigs in drag with their promos? Will we see clips about his ranting that ferrets are "just nasty weasels" and ferret owners are screwed up? Will we see "in-depth" segments about how he forced Bratton out and pushed Kerik?

I guarantee ya his head will explode long before primary season and the "Hero of 9/11" will go down in a blaze of glory.

36. okay everybody --- get off of Rudy's wife.... i just did!!!
okay okay... enough about judith, rudy... how about YOU... what do YOU think of your wife?
not just today BUT every day, we are concerned with who is leading the country AND we are looking at the woman he sleeps with each and every night of his presidency... this is the voice that will be guiding his thoughts--- when Bill was great, Hillary was certainly a part of his decision-making (probably Monica too). OBVIOUSLY we care.

On the bright side, after 2 or 34 other marriages, she seems to have settled on Rudy. Doesn't that say something good about him?

What do you tell Judith when you see her with 2 black eyes? Nothing, Rudy already told her TWICE.

Someone stroked this guy royally to get him to run. He has NO VAGUE IDEA of the size of microscope the press is about to run up his backside. By election time we'll be reading about what he had for breakfast. The sad thing is he is the only "safe" guy the GOP could find to run. They got a Mormon (far right would rather die than elect him), a guy who thinks that Baghdad Bob was right and the war is going well, and RUDY. 300,000,000 people and these are the 3 the GOP chooses.... somewhere in heaven Goldwater is spinning like a top.

negative about Bill Clinton's wife or even his daughter when he was campaigning or when he held office. And John Kerry's wife and daughters were never criticized for anything, right?

Giuliani and all the Republics and their wives should get the same treatment the Democrats get.

But if they do, they will whine about it.

And don't get me started on how the media and the GOP treat Joseph Wilson's wife. Does the phrase "fair game" ring a bell?

If elected president will he bring new mistress to the White House while old wifey is still there? Will he openly socialize with her? And I'm sure we can all go back to 1998 and find volumes of quotes from Rudy defending Clinton and berating the media for politicizing his personal life. :eyes:

78. America's gonna love her--she was fucking a man that was married with kids.
We're pretty liberal here in NYC, but I don't think there's too many New Yorkers who get a warm feeling in their heart when they here the name Judith Nathan. I'm going to enjoy watching Rudy try selling her to repug primary voters.

It's hard to choose which was more unbelievably stupid--Rudy saying Judith Nathan will be sitting in on Cabinet meetings (completely oblivious to the idea that the rest of America isn't as in love with her as he is), or Baghdad McCain going for his little stroll.

who worked on Howard Dean's campaign and canvassed door-to-door in Iowa. The number-one obstacle he encountered was questions of, "Where's his wife?" "Why isn't Judy Dean out campaigning too?" With Rudy's history, I don't think he'll make it past Iowa.

97. He wants decency for his new wife? Hell, they have no decency!
Edited on Tue Apr-03-07 08:31 PM by Sarah Ibarruri
Now that is about as funny as McCain walking the Iraq streets declaring they're safe, while wearing a bulletproof vest, bulletproof cap, and being surrounded by 100 armed guards!

Now Rudolph is pretending he's an upstanding citizen, a moral man, and that his wife is the Virgin Mary. lol

Here's what it boils right down to with this Rudolph character and the whacko he's married to:

First, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought his new current wife was the moral-less woman who was busy having sex with him, while he was married. Where's the decency in that? But he wants her respected? Wow. I don't care who you are, male, female, straight or gay, if you're married, you're married. If you cheat on your spouse, you're a lying piece of trash, and so is the person you're with.

Second, didn't he try to move this female into his marital home, with his first wife there? And this female was pretty okay with that. Again, doesn't matter if you're male, female, gay or straight, if you act like trash, you're trash. He's trash and she's trash. Does she deserve respect for any of that? Hell no.

Third, I thought Rudolph Giuliani chose to be in public life? Was he forced to be in public life? No. Did this woman he married know he was in public life before she hopped in the sack with him? Yes to all 3. If he doesn't like being in the limelight, he should crawl away from the public light.

They're both trash.

98. If she was going to be only a behind the scenes figure, like most GOP wives, I'd agree.
Using wives as political props alone doesn't make them fair game. But the couple said that Mrs Giuliani might end up joining cabinet meetings and playing a policy and full political role in their administration. I loathe all personal attacks (altho I don't foreswear them, I believe in a no first strike policy). But political criticism--that's certainly fair. Raising questions about character is the defining feature of Republican campaigns against Democrats. When was the last time a Democrat ran for president and the Republicans didn't say there were serious moral and ethical questions about our nominee?

In principle, I like the idea of a personal attacks truce. In practice I'll wait for a sign Republicans can be trusted.

are so many people laying on his wife? Lay off his wife?Interesting choice of words ... not like she's never been laid before. He posed with her on the cover of the New York post, with her sitting on his lap, while they smooched for the cameras.Oh Rudy, so late the chivalry! Go on with babwa wawa friday night in front of the whole nation with your wife. 3 days later, say “leave my wife out of this!!!”Thin-skinned Rudy, who wants her in on cabinet meetings, says she can’t be discussed! What a pathetic puss!Ah, rudy, just let her go kill some more dogs while hittin the sauce, two of her favorite things.Clearly, Rudy can’t take the heat of a bruising presidential campaign. Maybe it's not the wife, really, it's the family. If you start talking about the wife, it brings up the kids, that aren't hers, that are essentially estranged from Rudy, because of the wife. No campaigning by the kids, because of Wife. Family Values, anyone? Boo Hoo.
