These photos are going to be someones downfall. No sarcasm here. if they are as bad as I think they may be there will be nothing remarkable about any of them.

The sheep however, will celebrate.

That the same special forces group (Task Force 20) that "rescued" Lynch also lead this "raid".

The US command says that Task Force 20 was created to hunt for the Husseins and WMD, but it seems they were actually created to give Bush "positive publicity" exactly when he needs it.

9. The world will only believe this if the UN conducts DNA testing.
That will never happen though. Meanwhile, whether the sons are dead or alive this story will simply instigate more violence against our already beleaguered (sp.?) troops. I can't imagine the stress of walking around every day, knowing that there are hidden eyes behind guns pointed right at you, as well as booby traps just waiting to be detonated as your military vehicle rolls over them. Our soldiers have said they feel like sitting ducks, and I feel so sorry for them. :scared:

Or were we planning on cloning our puppet dictators?

23. Exactly - what is this "bring it on" mentality - don't they get
that this would be an "inciting" action? Making those who are already harboring anger, especially if they feel any loyalty to Hussein (and as hard as it is to fathom, given the brutality of his regime, those folks still exist), will have their rage further inflamed.

How does this benefit the US soldiers that we sent over there on cooked up pretenses?

Oh, thats right, the chickenhawks are all about superficial swagger with NO real concern for the realities on the ground. That is why they would plan this action with absolutely NO contigency planning for the (likely - duh) event that they were not greeting throughout the land with carpets of rose pedals.

17. That's what I don't understand
Now, don't get me wrong - the removal of a couple of psychopaths like these from the gene pool would be a net plus for the species - assuming they actually got Uday and Qusay.

But what I find absolutely farcical is the rapturous ovations this event has prompted. "Yeah, everything will chill right out , now that Tweedledum and Tweedledee are dead!" Come on! Do people really think that they were hiding in a bunker like Lex Luthor, planning and executing attack after attack on American forces? Please! What this may reveal is that you DON'T need guys like these to "lead" what is rapidly becoming a general civil insurrection.

On top of that, the fact that they hit the building with multiple TOW strikes and .50 caliber machine gun fire leads me to believe that whoever they took out of the building came out in Ziploc bags - not the most convincing evidence even if the Iraqis were disposed to believe American official pronouncements.

20. Re: "That's what I don't understand"
I agree with you,
The iraqis are certainly glad to be rid of those guys but thinking that this event alone will reduce the attacks against US troops is ridiculous. Proof is the homepage of the NYT: (in bold) Hopes Rise for End to Attacks
just above this title you have a small link: Two U.S. Soldiers Killed in Attacks

Wishfull thinking?

I also heard on "France Info" radio that iraquis were discontent with the fact that "revenge" against Hussein's sons was taken from them.

I still hope that indeed attacks will end but i doubt it.

Kemet

37. End of the dynasty
Perhaps some of the Iraqis will feel encouraged that Saddam no longer has any sons to take over the regime.

I do not think the perps behind the daily attacks will slow down. However, since the guy who ratted out U and Q lived to tell about it (so far) perhaps more regular citizens will feel encouraged to inform on Baathist and Fedayeen types hiding in their midst.

If U and Q were in the operational chain of command that might help, but the attachs do not seem to require much leadership, but someone is providing the cash.

-Bush just said.
These guys better be dead.

And what's up w/ Celebratory AA guns?
"Yeah, Bastards are dead. I'm going to the backyard to shoot some Tracers!"

Albawaba-4 USsoldiers died yesterday. Not safe
anywhere in Iraq.

And you'll hear about Camp Cropper at the Int'l Airport
soon. Not pretty.

USsoldiers are coming home and will selfdestruct
because of what they know and what Americans
refused to know.

22. Isn't this inappropriate?
The other day someone in the military (perhaps it was General Sanchez) said there would be physical evidence today of the deaths of Hussein's sons. Wouldn't it be unwise, among other things, to display the bodies? God knows what kind of a reaction that would create around the world.

Don't get me wrong. I'm certain some people will react with relief and/or a sense of justice being fulfilled at the thought of the deaths of Hussein's sons.

That said, though, we don't go around displaying dead bodies, especially when we view even the display of a live POW as an affront.

Then again, nothing this administration does should surprise me. If Bush brought back hanging, drawing and quartering, I really couldn't say I didn't expect it.

24. W/ Gitmo Detainees in Kennels? Inappropriate
This is what I've been talking about:

"You help me find the bad guy or we come back with our tanks and run over your fields and break down your house."

US soldier to a northern Iraqi villager,
July 17, 2003, CNN

Everyone but Americans have seen bodies
mangled, charred, dismembered.
A truckload out of women/children
body parts?

Concentration Camp Cropper at the Baghdad Airport.

Show the bodies or ME won't believe it.

"You help me find the bad guy or we come back with our tanks and run over your fields and break down your house."

When I heard an American soldier say that I literally gasped outloud. I was so ashamed that we would be doing something like that -- that is one thing I have despised about how the Israeli government handles the Palestinians -- and now we're doing it.

Bush has brought so much shame to our country.

29. yeah right...
I doubt very seriously that these guys are traveling together let alone "in hiding" together. They are heirs to what remains of a vast fortune that has yet to be traced or frozen. They must be allowed to live.
I see this as an "honorable exit" strategy for our forces. The attacks on our troops will 'appear' to decrease now (patrols will be reduced) and by the time campaign 2004 is in full swing US military presence in Iraq will begin to be cut way back with lots of warm and fuzzy homecoming stories.

Its far more likely that a 'deal' has been cut or 'was' cut months ago.

30. The reason it took so long to find
them or someone like them, was they wanted a rich man to collect the 30 million reward. Why waste it on some poor sap, that would be un Republican.

The owner of the villa was also a family member. Now he is even richer. Of course he is in protective custody and will have to have an armed guard the rest of his life.

Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 10:56 AM by rocknation
Are we supposed to accept the death of the sons as the "next best thing"? Or does this mean that when Bush is tried for his war crimes, Jenna and Barb will be arrested, too?

This--along with Kobe, and Pvt. Lynch--is just another weapon of mass distraction from Iraqgate.
