Key Democrats Vow to Block Bush Nominee [Ted Olson for AG]
Source: Associated Press

(09-12) 16:57 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

Senate Democrats will block Ted Olson from succeeding Alberto Gonzales as attorney general if President Bush nominates him, Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday.

"Ted Olson will not be confirmed," Reid, D-Nev., said in a written statement. "I intend to do everything I can to prevent him from being confirmed as the next attorney general."

The comment gave weight to Republican warnings that Olson, a former solicitor general, would face brutal confirmation hearings and that the White House can't afford a fight now over who will head the troubled federal law enforcement agency.

"It would be unfortunate to nominate someone who can't be confirmed," Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. and a member of the Judiciary Committee, said earlier in the day.

But we will hear 24/7 from Faux what a Great Islamic fighter and Terra Expert we have in our midst.

Remember his Hateful Right-Wing religious Flea Bag bit the dust at the pentagon and they will push that too

The Blood Pressure is more than holding up held in check by Hyzaar

I remember in 67 when Wastemoreland came to Congress and repeated more lies like Puppet Petraeus

And later millions of Vietnamese died for the Piggish Military Industrial complex cattle feed at the Public Tax Trough also add about 35,000 more of amerika's young men and women.

2. Get ready for several non-binding resolutions before Olson is confirmed
A few of them may even contain strong language.

4. Why's Olson being considered at all? Wasn't he part of the Ashcroft foot-draggers?
I mean, I had a hard time believing there was some stuff that was too strong for even Ted Olson, but that was the word and the admin didn't exactly fight hard to prevent him from getting out of public service.

16. He's a 9/11 widower
and after all he suffered on 9/11, who would be so cruel as to deny him the job?

I'm sure that's the reasoning behind the appointment (or appointment threat - has he actually been named yet?).
You know the old advice to new lawyers: if the law's on your side, pound the law; if the facts are on you're side, pound the facts; if neither are on your side, pound the table! For this administration, if you want to push something through, pound 9/11.

September 11, 2001 was a terrible day for many people. As much as I disliked Barbara Olson, I did not want to have had her - or anyone else - die in such a horrible manner. But while I can sympathize with Mr. Olson, and offer my condolences, that doesn't change the fact that he's not Attorney General material.

18. I mean I can't understand why the admin wants him. He's not extreme enough.
At least my understanding is that he actually has some limits, weak as they are. Why doesn't that immediately disqualify him for the job? Or maybe he's thought better of principle in his time out of government?

20. Yep, it will be a real handicap if Barbara won't be there in the room to squall and howl
if the questioning becomes serious, between the Republican soft-ball "rehabilitation" moments, the way Mrs. Alito did. She really chewed the scenery for her husband, gathering all the sympathy left in the world as right-wingers lamented how brutal and rude the Democrats were, how martyred Judge Alito had become!

Hoooo, hooooooooooo.

Doesn't it just make you feel like sobbing? Poor, poor conservative Judge Alito.
Democrats really have a lot of nerve to EVER speak directly to the chosen of god with
anything less than slavish reverence. They are our betters, they tell us.

5. Get ready for a recess appointment. ...
Next one is when?
Sen. Reid will try to keep that from happening by keeping the session going, but
he won't be able to during either Thanksgiving break or Christmas break.

Then we'll have to live with this a$$-wipe until King George leaves office.

17. I think you're right.
Chimpie has to nominate someone as crooked as Gonzo because he can't afford to have someone neutral at DOJ. But anyone as crooked as Gonzo is likely to have a hard time getting confirmed, if what Reid as saying is true. "Hah!" I hear in the background. "Enough Dems will roll over and play dead that Jack the Ripper could get confirmed as AG." Without prior commitments from enough zombie Dems to do the deed, Chimpie probably doesn't want to take the chance.

7. Call him "Theodore Olson"
Ted makes him sound too likable.

Democrats MUST do everything to let their Senators know that Olson, a ratf$#@ing asswipe who was up to his nose hairs in the campaign to gin up that fake Whitewater scandal, is not an acceptable nominee. Same goes for Laurence Silberman.

Olson has been rumored to be a bit of a skirt-chaser himself. Just three months after his shrew of a wife Barbara (a fellow Clinton slanderer, with teeth almost as bad as Kato Burn's) was killed when Al Qaeda crashed a passenger jet into the Pentagon, Theodore was seen at a number of public functions and restaurants sporting a new piece of tall, blonde arm candy. Someone he'd been "grooming" before Babs was pulverized?...

he'll be confirmed. Or, Reid won't keep the Senate in session in order that Bush can recess appoint him.

13. I am happy that Dem's will not confirm him,
I don't think that an important post like this one can be filled by a recess appointment. Although, with Bush anything is possible.
