The New York Post ran a story on Thursday asking why the basic rate of $181,692 for such an ad was discounted.

"Times Gives Lefties a Hefty Discount for 'Betray Us' Ad," was the headline in the Post, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp............

3. Well
Someone had to kick the legs out from under Patraeus. He is acting as a waterboy for the administration and needs to be called on it.

5. I do pick on some oficers sometimes for not doing the right thing.
Certainly not all - and I do want to, need to, believe in our officers.

In my heart I do believe. I know most are good.

He is a very good officer - Mr Fallon - I know he is.

If I ever gave impressions that I do not think most general officers of our country are good - I didn't mean to. I just want the bad ones out.

You are a very good officer Fallon - a credit to the uniform and to our country.

Please say what you think - I trust what you say - I really do. A lot of us do. It is important for us now.

DO the right thing.

Joe

6. The story is TOTAL BS ... letter from Eric Alterman

From ERIC ALTERMAN: Subject: MoveOn ad. For the record, four years ago, a foundation purchased a full-page ad in the Times for my book, "What Liberal Media?" Because the foundation worked through a public relations agency that buys many such advertisements with the Times, the price was considerably less expensive than the quoted rate. This is common practice in the advertising business and I would not be surprised if MoveOn.org used the same firm or one with a similar arrangement. It's open to conservatives as well and easily researched by reporters.

7. Isn't that headline backwards??
It should read "NY Times attacked for ad criticizing Petraeus"

But then Freepers and their media see the world through a looking glass.

10. The whole ad backfired on MoveOn in my opinion...
based on what I've been hearing from ordinary folks around my town. The "Betray Us" taunt was childish and fucked everything up IMO.
