Americans have economy on the brain: Number 1 issue as Presidential election approaches
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The state of the economy is the number-one issue on the minds of Americans as the presidential election approaches, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday morning.

Eighty-two percent of Americans said the economy will be extremely or very important to their vote for president. Economic conditions edged out Iraq by two points, with 80 percent of those surveyed saying that the war is 'extremely or very important' to their vote.

Also, among the top five issues on the public's mind when contemplating their next vote for president are health care (76 percent), terrorism (76 percent), and Iran (73 percent).

The state of the overall economy weighed more heavily on the minds of voters than specific economic issues such as gas prices (67 percent), poverty (65 percent), taxes (63 percent) and immigration (61 percent)....

18. Except Iran, of course.
Maybe not the way we WANT it addressed, of course. They'd rather do it THIS way:

Boom.

3. Once they learn how bad it really is, it will shoot up to 99%
Of course, they'll never learn that until it's too late. Certainly, none of the front-runners want to talk about it. And even the 25% of Bush supporters will get fucked soon enough.

7. The masses are finally putting down the potato chip bag and the channel changer long enough........
to find out they have been had. The current economic recession will not easily be resolved as corporate anti-america has abandoned the burning ship as it sinks slowly below the waves.

8. Right, but don't worry, as soon as the "cut taxes" crap starts
spewing from the mouths of every fascpublican on the campaign trail, they'll cast their votes for their Lordly Social Betters and to maintain the status quo.

Sorry, but I'm especially cynical tonight.

9. Idiots. The environment doesn't even make the top five!
When more storms, massive crop failures, water wars, etc. really start to heat up I think that there will be more than a small hit to the economy because of it. Terrorism is a non-issue for the vast majority of Americans, yet they still allow the GOP to turn them into bed wetters over it!

10. Note how everything on the minds of Americans is something that bushco "f"ed up.
Economy is screwed.
Iraq war was illegal and was so badly botched it will never be finished OR paid for.
Health care? Sheesh, talk about dropping the ball.
Terrorism? 9-11 happened on their watch, people. And they caused it.
Iran? The great new debacle they're determined to create.

bushco is the greatest enemy of America on the planet.

13. Sorry, but NO ...
The No. 1 issue will be immigration. I know that, because the MSM keeps telling me that's the No. 1 issue. So why are we talking about anything else here?

:sarcasm: (as though it were necessary)

23. Also interesting that there were several articles ...
... last week about how Immigration was going to be THE issue in '08.

I realize that the MSM tends to pull stuff out of their own rear-ends - just wish they'd get on the same page when they make stuff up.

With all of the bad news about the stock market, housing foreclosures, credit card debt and more plant closures, I'm afraid we're going to be getting right back into the "It's the economy, stupid!" school of thought.
