US helicopter crashes in Italy
Source: BBC

A US Blackhawk military helicopter has crashed in northern Italy, according to media reports.
The crash resulted in at least two fatalities, according to an Italian police spokesman.

Ten people were on the aircraft, which crashed near Treviso, along the bank of the Piave river, a fire brigade official told the Reuters news agency.

The US air force base of Aviano is looking into the reports, but could not confirm them, a spokesman said.

3. Five dead in U.S. helicopter crash in Italy: report
<snip>

"Five people are thought to have died and others were injured when a U.S. Blackhawk helicopter crashed on Thursday in northern Italy, Italy's ANSA news agency reported, without citing sources.

The crash took place in the countryside near the city of Treviso, it said. It was not clear whether the helicopter had taken off from the nearby U.S. military base in Aviano.

No one at the U.S. embassy could be immediately reached for comment."
