Savage lawsuit calls CAIR 'vehicle of international terrorism'
Source: WorldNetDaily

Trend-setting radio talk show host Michael Savage has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the Council on Islamic-American Relations, and has accused the organization of being a "political vehicle of international terrorism" that seeks to do "material harm to those voices who speak against the violent agenda of CAIR's clients."

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in California, seeks damages equal to the ongoing donations from CAIR supporters "who expect CAIR to act in this manner in exchange for continuing financial support" as well as "actual damages according to proof."

A spokesman for Savage indicated the top-rated talk show host would have no further comment, saying the text of the lawsuit itself would answer questions.

The focal point of the lawsuit is a series of audio clips CAIR has been using in its promotions and fundraising efforts.

First off, I realize that WND is a right-wing news site. I did try to see if this story was being reported elsewhere, and only found it on other right-wing sites as well.

Be that as it may, I really hope that CAIR counter-sues Savage, and drives him off the air. It's ironic for someone like Savage to complain about someone seeking to do material harm - this guy spouts off vitriolic hatred on a continual basis. If anyone has ever heard Savage talk about Muslims or homosexuals, you know that his hatred for both groups is almost equal.

2. looks like WorldNetDaily didn't bother to get the name right

OP article says "Council on Islamic-American Relations", when it's clearly "American-Islamic". Pretty weak editing, IMHO.

4. Why do right-wingers love frivolous lawsuits?
This will get laughed out of court faster than Faux News' lawsuit.

Costs much less than it does to hire a PR guy to push your story.

13. From another right-wing source
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID={B4CB72DB-F13C-4E06-9029-AC5E595FEC24}

Looks like CAIR is intimately linked with the UAE emirate, which itself has not insubstantial ties to Osama bin Laden.

CAIR's landlord, Sheik Maktoum, doubles as UAE defense minister. Before 9/11, he provided UAE military C-130 cargo planes to supply al-Qaida hunting camps in Afghanistan with all the amenities they needed when he and other high-level UAE officials and princes took hunting trips there. On one trip in 1999, roughly half the UAE royal family was the guest of Osama bin laden at his camp near Kandahar. They flew in on an official UAE aircraft, according to a recently declassified CIA memo dated Feb. 19, 1999, and titled, "Recent High Level UAE Visits to Afghanistan." The memo also determined that Dubai officials had lied to U.S. officials about visiting the camps. And they were believed to have even tipped off bin Laden about a coming strike on his camps. Mind you, this was just months after bin Laden blew up the two U.S. embassies in Africa (a plot which was financed in part through Dubai banks), so they knew they were in bad company. Just like CAIR knows it's in bad company.

Of course, I'm sure the Bush administration has addressed this to everyone's satisfaction.

Credited with already transforming tiny Persian Gulf Emirate into aviation, business and tourist hub and growing its GDP from $8 billion in 1994 to an expected $40 billion in 2006. Also guiding its investments abroad: Dubai recently bought London's Tussauds Group, a stake in DaimlerChrysler and aerospace company Doncasters, plus real estate in the U.S. Its purchase of P&O group and consequent bid to manage six key American ports sparked a national controversy in the U.S. and forced Dubai to back away from the U.S. port portion of the deal in March ...
