Congress to Probe Iraq Rape Allegations(House Panel Looking Into Charges by Former KBR Employee)
Source: ABC

At a hearing next Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee will hear testimony relating to allegations made by Jamie Leigh Jones that in 2005, a group of Halliburton employees in Baghdad drugged her and gang-raped her less than a week into her time in country.

The company, once headed by vice president Dick Cheney, has won more than $16 billion in contracts with the U.S. government for work in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2004 and 2006. Jones is suing the company in civil court; Halliburton says she has improperly named them as a defendant.

The hearing comes on the heels of numerous letters from lawmakers demanding answers in the case, which will be featured on ABCNews' "20/20" this Friday.

Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, wrote earlier this week to Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and a State Diplomatic Security agent who allegedly worked Jones' case.

11. Not much, but all things being equal..
I'd rather they at least try to bring justice instead of just giving up. That's a no-brainer IMO.

5. Yea the foxes are investigating the foxes...
....I'm sure they'll decide that Ms. Jones was just imagining things and that she wasn't really raped, or that the poor woman is just "confused" about who really raped her.

Pfffffffffft!

Bullshit whitewash "investigation" and endless finger-pointing until it's out of the public eye then it will disappear and nothing will ever get done about it.

6. So, we got over a million dead, trillions spent on a war where there were no wmd. Now don't get me
wrong, I am sure this story is important, but somewhere along the line, we have most certainly lost our priorities, possibly also our minds, in this country.

Distraction and diversion always seems to be the order of the day.

And another damn thing, what about that Chavez? LOL

The insanity of it all.

14. Death by a thousand cuts....
Endless investigations over seemingly minor matters (this rape, as reported is not "minor") would gain critical mass until it finally toppled the maladministration. Hitting Halliburton on their conduct and contracts would be an excellent initial move and could render them far less dangerous in the long run.

WE know what these people have done, but it's only by going after the little stuff first that irrefutable evidence of larger crimes and conspiracies will come to light. THATs how you take down a fascist government, their enablers and supporters.

10. Now, now, now...
Let's try and be a little more positive. I've just got to believe that this is like the Iceberg - wasn't that what it was called? - game, where you tap out the "ice" cubes with your plastic mallet and try and not be the one that causes the whole shebang to collapse. One of these innumerable scandals is going to bring the house down. I mean, take your pick! And this one is going to be on 20/20, too, which should help.
