Leahy for Obama
Source: Politico.com

-snip-

UPDATE: "We need a president who can reintroduce America to the world — and actually reintroduce America to ourselves," Leahy said in the conference call, saying Obama carried the "hope" to end the war in Iraq and to bring "health care for all."

4. government endorsements
As I see the people in government not endorse John Edwards, it isn't hard to understand why the people of America and their needs are not being addressed. Edwards represents us instead of corporations, unlike Obama and Clinton. The people we have in office have shown by their endorsements that they like the present system just fine and want it to continue. This really is the core problem. It has allowed this awful President to do what he wants. It shows that Edwards is right. The system IS corrupt. We need a fighter to go in and really clean house, not pretend to do it, like Pelosi and Hillary. Gender and race don't matter. The message matters. Edwards is gaining traction and as time goes on people will see through the smoke.

8. what a foolish post.
long before Edwards adopted his anti-corporate stance, Pat Leahy was fighting corporate control. JE invests and profits off Halliburton and, Leahy fights them. Leahy voted passionately against a war for oil and imperialism. JE voted passionately for it. And I could go on and on.

3. Good news.
I like Leahy. Under no circumstances should he go fuck himself.

5. How much pressure have the Clintons put on these Senators? Seems like they're going for Obama.
Hillary and Bill CANNOT be happy about this. My sense is that they've lobbied hard for these endorsements, twisted a lot of arms and used their 'machine'. Yet, Obama is picking up one big name Senator after another.

I find this much more telling than whether Chris Matthews spends three hours telling me Hillary won a debate.

6. Edwards isn't in the Club anymore
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 02:46 PM by Dogfur
Don't get me wrong, I like Leahy as well...but let's face it. They wish to preserve current power - an endorsement outside the clubhouse wouldn't be good for the team on the field.

on edit: the Obama endorsement instead of Clinton from another old school guy is pretty telling, though.
The hard part is figure out his incentive for such an action.

9. Leahy was one of the Senators most passionately against the war
Edwards was very pro-war. He wasn't just pro the IWR, he was all for bombing Iraq. Leahy was busy fighting Halliburton, and Edwards didn't sign on. Maybe those things had something to do with Pat's decision.
