10 hurt in attack on US patrol in Mosul: police

A suicide car bomb targeting a US patrol in Mosul has wounded 10 Iraqi civilians, a day after five American troops were killed in a deadly ambush in the volatile northern city.

"The attack happened at about 11:15 am (7:15pm AEDT) in Mosul's Al-Shaab neighbourhood," police Brigadier General Khalid Abdul Sattar said.

"Ten civilians were wounded.

The US military is seeking confirmation of the report.

On Monday, a US military Humvee armoured vehicle was hit by a powerful roadside bomb while on patrol in an eastern suburb of Mosul, killing five troopers.
