Latest round of 80 layoffs is last Boeing will announce
Latest round of 80 layoffs is last Boeing will announce

By David Bowermaster
Seattle Times aerospace reporter

Boeing distributed layoff warning notices yesterday to 70 workers in the Puget Sound area and 10 others elsewhere as it continued the cycle of monthly job cuts that began in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

But the company does not plan to report the totals to the media each month, Rudolph said, because Boeing expects overall employment in the Commercial Airplanes group to remain "relatively stable" in 2004.

(snip)

Boeing had 54,009 workers in the state Jan. 2, according to the Web site, down 32 percent from 80,000 on Sept. 6, 2001.

3. Ah, but they created 1000 jobs in Dec!
Just like hiding the protesters from the Bush motorcades, they will hide job losses from the American public.
