Warren: McCain did not violate 'cone of silence'
Source: CNN

(CNN) – Sometimes you just have to take it on faith.

Pastor Rick Warren said John McCain didn’t hear any of the questions in advance at Saturday night’s Civil Forum, even if the candidate was a little late arriving to the pre-arranged quiet room or “cone of silence.”

At the beginning of the forum at California megachurch, Warren told the crowd and TV audience, “I'm going to ask identical questions to each of these candidates, so you can compare apples to apples. Now, Senator Obama is going to go first. We flipped a coin, and we have safely placed Senator McCain in a cone of silence.”

But at 8 p.m. ET, as Warren said that, McCain was actually not in the building. He was just leaving his hotel, with his motorcade arriving at the church nearly a half hour into the event. A. Larry Ross, a spokesman for Warren, says McCain then went directly into the holding room they dubbed the “cone of silence” (in reality, a room with no TV or audio).

...

Warren told CNN Sunday evening, “we flat out asked him” if he heard any of the questions. The McCain campaign “confirmed that McCain did not hear or see any of the broadcast” in the motorcade or after he arrived, Ross said.

3. McCain just happened to answer some questions Obama was asked and he wasn't.
It takes an awful lot of faith to believe that.

I guess that is common with the non-denominational fundie holly roller churches.

Here's a report made on the 14th:

Obama/McCain Forum: A Saddleback FAQ

...

Sen. Barack Obama will be interviewed first, as determined by a flip of a coin. To insure fairness, Sen. McCain will not hear the questions during the first hour. Between the two interviews, the candidates will appear together on stage for photographs.

42. That would appear to be a simple, yet apparently too clever, way of doing it.
It's what occurred to me, but then again, I was disposed to interpret the information in a way that didn't assume deceit in the absence of actual evidence.

Good will and a desire for dialog. They were liberal virtues, when I was a kid.

14. So "flat out" asking someone a question assures an honest answer? Maybe we should just do away
with our court system and just "flat out" ask suspects if they're guilty or not.

That there is this little thing about "false witness" that he and his ilk always seem to forget, and that passing on someone else's false witness is just as bad as making one of your own.

26. But he did his own as well...
He said McCain had already been placed in a secluded place, when he had not. So Ricky has zero problems with telling big honking lies when it is to his own advantage. This is not even contested. He said McCain was in the cone of silence, when he was not. Warren lied.

Anyone who has listened to McCain's Town Hall Meeting responses knows how inadequate, somers times totally unable to answer impromptu questions he is. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude he appeared totally and well rehearsed!

43. Why show up and sit on ice for an hour?
What I'd ask is if any of the questions were presented to the candidates ahead of time.

It's not uncommon for interviewees to request a list of the actual or likely questions. But I haven't heard that asked; perhaps the answer would be unnerving, or simply not forthcoming.

32. So, it is undisputable that the good Pastor himself LIED
when he said "We flipped a coin, and we have safely placed Senator McCain in a cone of silence.”

Is it possible that the goodly Pastor Warren could have an "agenda" of some sort? One that precludes the need to "tell the truth"?

Setting a trap for Obama.
McCain's attendance was just for show to fool the sheep to believe they were sincere. McCain was just given the questions and probably allowed to listen to Obama as a bonus.

44. Now, look, you've got to think this through!!!
McCain may not have directly heard the questions.

He may have had someone else listening and then relaying the questions to him.

THAT is how these idiots think. That way, McCain can answer (correctly in his mind) that "HE" didn't hear the questions asked. It's all in the semantics.

And I'm telling you...I'm serious...these are the stupid games that these people play.
