Cheney travels to Georgia, Ukraine next week
Source: AFP

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US Vice President Dick Cheney will visit war-torn Georgia as well as Ukraine and Azerbaijan next week and meet with the three countries' presidents, the White House said Monday.

"President Bush has asked the vice president to travel to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Italy for discussions with these key partners on issues of mutual interest," the White House said in a statement.

Cheney, who is scheduled to depart September 2, will be the most senior US official to visit the region since Russian troops invaded Georgia two weeks ago amid a dispute over the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

The crisis has sparked fears of instability in the Caucasus, where Tbilisi's press for NATO membership and Ukraine's support of Georgia has riled Moscow.

A picture of Cheney walking through a field (yes, a grassy, waving field) with then CP-Soviet Union Chairman Mikhail Gorbachev. Seeing him walking with my hero Gorbachev gave me a great respect for Cheney, back then when he was "only" the sec. of defense. Trust me, I've had no love for the man since 1999, when I knew he's weasel his way into the Bush camp. And he did. >;-P

4. He's fooled many for many years, it's about a forty year mark for
his the agenda that he agreed to carry out on behalf of his bosses - the barons. It hurts to find out what he was doing to the country all this time. Planning and working on projects leading up to world domination by a few, for a few. And screws to us.

9. Cheney will head diplomatic mission to Georgia war zone
Source: Houston Chronicle

President Bush is dispatching Vice President Dick Cheney to Georgia, setting up a high-ranking diplomatic mission to an ally reeling from war.

The White House announced today that Cheney will head abroad on Sept. 2 for stops in three former Soviet Republics — Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine — plus Italy.

"The president felt it was important to have the vice president consult with allies in the region on our common security interests," White House spokesman Tony Fratto said today.

The vice president's office described Cheney's mission in similarly broad terms, and called it a chance to reiterate the U.S. commitment to its allies.

Indeed, Cheney's presence in the war zone is a clear sign to Russia of the U.S. resolve behind Georgia after the small country was pummeled by a Russian military response.

Cheney's office has used tough rhetoric against the former Cold War foe, saying that "Russian aggression must not go unanswered." The Pentagon has ruled out a military response.

<"From January 2007 to March 2008, the McCain campaign paid Scheunemann $70,000 – pocket change compared to the $290,000 his Orion Strategies banked in those same 15 months from the Georgian regime of Mikheil Saakashvili.

What were Mikheil's marching orders to Tbilisi's man in Washington? Get Georgia a NATO war guarantee. Get America committed to fight Russia, if necessary, on behalf of Georgia.

Scheunemann came close to succeeding.

Had he done so, U.S. soldiers and Marines from Idaho and West Virginia would be killing Russians in the Caucasus, and dying to protect Scheunemann's client, who launched this idiotic war the night of Aug. 7. That people like Scheunemann hire themselves out to put American lives on the line for their clients is a classic corruption of American democracy.

U.S. backing for his campaign to retrieve his lost provinces is what Saakashvili paid Scheunemann to produce. But why should Americans fight Russians to force 70,000 South Ossetians back into the custody of a regime they detest? Why not let the South Ossetians decide their own future in free elections?

Not only is the folly of the Bush interventionist policy on display in the Caucasus, so, too, is its manifest incoherence.>

11. Oil grab now equals "diplomatic mission"? Why not, since "peace" now means
illegally invading nations & slaughtering the citizens; "winning hearts & minds" means bribing freedom fighters not to fight for their freedom; "American official policy" means torturing and disappearing people...

23. He's going to Azerbaijan first.. I wonder why?
Right now, Ilham Aliyev must be thinking to himself just how important keeping the BTC piepine in the West's hands is considering the Russians are right next door. Judging by the lame response so far from the West to what happened in Georgia, he's got to be weighing his options. That's why Cheney is going to Azerbaijan first. Got to keep him on the reservation for BP.

I wonder what on earth Cheney can offer him to risk his neck for James Baker III & co.?

Remember, this oldey but goody?

MOSCOW, June 8 2007(RIA Novosti) - U.S. reaction to Russia's proposal to jointly use a radar in Azerbaijan as part of a global missile shield will show Washington's motives behind its planned missile defense system in Europe, a senior Russian lawmaker said Friday.

The presidents of Russia and the United States agreed Thursday to cooperate on missile defense issues, and Vladimir Putin offered the U.S. joint use of the Gabala radar installation in Azerbaijan in an apparent attempt to ease tensions sparked by Washington's missile shield plans.

'The U.S. response to the Russian proposal will reveal whether the Americans are really concerned about the threats coming from certain global regions, which are common for both Russia and the United States,' said Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the International Affairs Committee at the lower house of the Russian parliament.

http://en.rian.ru/russia/20070608/66898697.html

The US really gave the Russian proposal some serious thought . . .

July 10 2007

'What we do not accept is that Gabala is a substitute for the plans that we're already pursuing with our Czech and Polish allies,' said Stephen Mull, acting Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs.

'We believe that those installations are necessary for the security of our interests in Europe,' he told reporters.

'And both of those countries agree; and the entire NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) alliance agrees,' Mull added during a joint press conference with Azerbaijan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Araz Azimov.

'And so, we do not believe that the Gabala suggestion replaces that. We're still going to go ahead with the installation on those sites,' Mull added."

The Azeris were probably thinking having all the fresh US and Russian money coming in to fix up Gabala would not only fill up the treasury but also keep the hammer and the anvil from smashing Azerbaijan. Now, however, things are a little more scary.

Ladies and gentlemen, the OBSCENE amounts of these financial instruments being thrust through the system – allegedly in the name of 1 bank, amounting to MULTI-TRILLIONS per quarter – CAN ONLY BE THE WORK OF A PRIVATE CENTRAL BANK (read, the FED), because no public entity – bank or otherwise - has the balance sheet maneuverability in an impaired credit environment to conduct such business.
