Rice: Joe Biden is 'a true, true patriot'
Source: USA Today

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had some kind words for Sen. Barack Obama's running mate during a press briefing today in the Middle East.

"I am not going to comment on the politics of it," Rice says. "I’ll just say that Senator Biden is obviously a very fine statesman. I’ve known him for a long time. He’s been a really very supportive committee chair for – and before that, ranking member for the State Department and for our diplomatic efforts. And so he’s a – you know, he’s a true, true patriot."

5. No - it's an indication of how highly respected Biden is in Washington.
It's hard to find someone who honestly does not respect him.

This is why he'll help us get things done in the Congress.

17. Joe Biden, in Washington,
is sui generis. There are no others like him. He is so universally respected, he's an absolutely brilliant choice by Obama. The guy's had a career comparable to that of Ted Kennedy, in terms of doing good for our country. Rice - oh, man, I'm about to agree with her, so kill me after you read this, please - is right: Biden is a first-rate American patriot.

I'm supporting this ticket, so I won't encourage you to trash our VP candidate any longer. Carry on with your quest, although I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish.

29. Dennis Kucinich would have been a good choice. Biden isn't.
It's just that simple. The choice of Biden reflect's Obama's values, and I think it would be a bad idea to lose sight of what that choice implies about those values.

Because the alternative is too horrifying to consider.

14. I have wondered what she thought of a black man being POTUS
and if that's caused her to look backwards and re-evaluate the fact that the administration and their agenda have failed so horribly. She saw her own path to power, but maybe Obama's forcing her to look at other ways she could have gotten there.

She was shoe shopping during Katrina and lied her ass off about Iraq - she's no Dem! She's even called "W" her husband and he's referred to her as his wife - she's inbred Repub and doesn't even know that she's black. All she knows about is the color of money, oil money at that!

21. Condi looking to the future?
It kinda makes me wonder if she's planning to jump ship. I have always had the feeling that Condi is out for Condi and noone else, and would dance to whatever puppetmaster's string pulling would get her the farthest. I think she would have signed up for the Ringling Brother's circus if she thought it would make her star shine the brightest.

31. I'm proud of her.
At long last, she's seeing the light and distancing herself from the Bush administration. She's also sending a clear signal that she won't be McBush's running mate.

Call it as you see it, but Condaleeza Rice is currently one of the two most powerful black women in our country. (Oprah has a different kind of power.) Her endorsement of Obama and Biden is going to go a long way in our community. She's sold out on a lot of things over the last 8 years, but she hasn't "forgotten who she is"...

Now if only Clarence Thomas would get a clue!

32. You might start looking for one of your own...clue.
She has an oil tanker named after her, courtesies and acknowledgments from a former employer. Kindasleezy has missed the boat on this one. She's toast and if she's not, it sorta shows what the Dem. party has sold us...We the People.
