WASHINGTON (AP) -- Rock stars Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel are teaming up for their first joint concert to benefit Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

Obama plans to attend the concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Oct. 16, the day after Obama's final debate with Republican John McCain at Hofstra University, located several miles outside the city in Hempstead, N.Y.

Seeing the two superstars together won't come cheap. Tickets start at $500 and range up to $10,000.

The event was first reported by the Huffington Post Web site and confirmed by an Obama aide.

2. It's an amazing venue, two big names in the industry and all for a good cause
Hammerstein Ballroom is a very intimate setting for a concert. You'll be able to see the sweat roll down their faces when they play!

4. They did something similiar like this back in 2004
They'll do a few small venues like Hammerstein and then do a tour across key swing states at larger venues.

5. But They Had Many More Celebrities On Board!! I Say The More The Merrier!
I loved the 2004 concert and have it taped somewhere around this house. It went on and on and on!

They should really invite Mellencamp, REM, Eddie Vedder, JACKSON BROWNE, Bonnie Rait... some that were there in 2004!

But Bruce IS THE BOSS!

a VCR connection too because I've taped many Musical Events! Some of my favorites from PBS where I had to stop and start because they were asking for donations and ate up a lot of tape time!

13. Robin Williams is performing in Boston, and a $500 ticket gets you a personal meet-and-greet.
I told my wife it would only be worth it if it was for charity.

$500 is a lot of money.

Shazbot!

6. Screw Billy Joel....
I still remember when he wanted to have the size limit on striped bass eliminated to help the commercial fisherman. Never mind the fact that it would have destroyed the striped bass population. He went so far as to hold up an illegal striper that he caught for a photo-op. Will never forgive him for that.

41. I think the focus of that song
I think the focus of that song was simply on the plight of the small, New England fisherman getting forced out business due to fuel prices, rather than a celebration of fish...

His honey mustard ranch dressing is made with herbs that were NOT fair-trade certified!

What?

WHAT??

WHAT DID I SAY WRONG??

I thought we were all trying to find petty reasons to throw celebrity do-gooders under the bus in an orgy of circular firing squad destruction?

36. Paul Newman wasn't meeting with Sarah Palin or Trent Lott.
Paul Newman wasn't licking the boots of the Republican elite.

That piece of shit Bono was doing all of these things.

Rock and Roll had its roots as protest music, but Bono seems to have forgotten that.

I'm glad that some others haven't.

39. This is a concert. Bono is a musician. This is a rock concert. Bono is supposed to be a rock
musician. Rock music has its roots in progressive casuses. Bono has insulted that legacy.

(How much longer do I have to explain this to you?)
