Never minimize the stupidity of the American voting public or the level of racism.

10. Yes. It's a fact.
Even if accurate, the implication of this poll is that the number of "undecideds" has shrunk to 4%. Obama is rolling, still at 50%.

5. A little polling "noise"... please don't take these top numbers at face value
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 06:57 PM by featherman
The previous one was a little high... this one's a little low... all within the margin of error. Obama seems to have a nice lead of 5-6 points on average... a good position to be in. Leads are good.

16. Exactly it is a little dip in one poll counter to its own former poll
the first poll was a bit of outlier to begin with

7. I don't remember anything about them reporting a 9 point lead for O.
Seems to me it all beibng reported as neck & neck or McCain slightly ahead, unless I've missed something.

9. Obama never had a 9 point lead to begin with.
It was just noise.

Split undecideds down the middle and Obama wins the popular vote 52-48. Not bad.

18. Yup, no trend here. Both of these ABC polls display margins of error
One on the high side, the other low. Obama's actual margin should be somewhere in the middle, around 6 or 7 percent.

22. Clearly
the nine point lead poll was an aberation, no other poll from that time was anywhere near that. If I flip a coin a thousand times, it could wind up 540-460 heads/tails ratio every once in awhile. It won't happen often, but it is within the realm of possibility.

23. Exactly, these polls are only designed
to be accurate within the MoE 95% of the time.

5% of polls are absolutely worthless.

I wouldn't pay much attention to any poll they came up with.

13. Screw likely voters, I want polls with registered voters
those that I know can vote, not those who may register and vote

14. If voters aren't registered by now, then I really doubt they are 'likely' to vote.
When do likely voters stop being polled? Were these likely voters from states that have early voting? How many of them have until election day to register?

17. Obama could gain some points by pointing out that what he refers to as being a maverick,
is actually just recklessness and a total deficit of understanding on the issues. When on Monday someone says the economy is strong, gets called on it, and then their FITST instinct is to attack the other because by fundamentals, you meant the workers, then a week later 'suspend' your campaign because there is such a crisis, well. That means this guy has no clue what's going on.

New theme "McCain is ERRATIC."

19. 9% was too high; 4% is too low. = ABC margin of error?
I don't detect a trend here, rather a lot of "noise" in the statistical data. No other poll other than ABC had Obama at a 9% lead a week ago. Either one of these poll results would seem to be indicative of the statistical margin of error in the polling sample, one on the high side and the other low. Averaging the two would be more in line with other recent poll results (Gallup, Rasmussen, etc.), or about a 6% lead for Obama.

Gotta keep selling the narrative that it's actually a close race, ABC...
