Poll: McCain gives back gains in NJ
Source: AP

TRENTON, N.J. - After closing within six points of Democrat Barack Obama following the Republican National Convention, Republican John McCain has again fallen well behind in the presidential race in New Jersey, according to a new poll.

A Fairleigh Dickinson University-PublicMind Poll out Tuesday has Obama with 50 percent to McCain's 37 percent among likely voters. An FDU poll a month ago had Obama with 47 percent to 41 percent for McCain.

~snip~

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin does not appear to be helping the GOP ticket in New Jersey.

The poll found that the number saying Palin is a good choice fell from 47 percent in early September to 34 percent a month later. Those saying she is a poor choice increased to 54 percent from 34 percent.

1. When the history of this race is written, his choice of Palin will be seen as a disaster.
He kept his base with selecting her. But that's about it.

2. The Sunday after the Palin pick I had a party here in NJ...
...and two likely McCain voters switched to Obama because of Palin - wouldn't even consider McCain because of it.

7. I spent a week in New Jersey this summer
And the people I met are not likely to be fooled by the shallow devices of a bumpkin like Palin. And frankly, the place felt and sounded Blue as can be. I'm saying it right here, I love New Jersey!

8. ANYONE who thinks NJ could go for McPain/Failin is completely nuts
WE would not let it happen. Mostly clear thinking people in NJ (even here in Morris county, the Thuglies can see through Failin like a swimming pool full of diamonds)

14. Fellow Morris County resident here...
..there are a LOT of republicans in Morris County but they tend to be the fiscal kind due to the high income levels in a lot of the towns. I'm seeing nowhere near the number of McCain signs as I saw W signs in 2000 and 2004.
