Obama campaign Frugal, and efficient
Source: NY Times

With Ambitious Campaign, Obama Is Both Big Spender and Penny Pincher

Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign has collected a record-shattering $640 million, but only two of his staff members are among the 15 highest-paid workers in the general election, according to campaign finance records. The rest, including the three highest paid, are employed by Senator John McCain.

...

Unlike its Republican counterpart, the Obama campaign has frequently used a provision in campaign finance law that allows supporters to donate work space for the campaign.

...
“My reward,” she said, “was to hug him.”

2. No kidding. They would not give me a bumper sticker!
I remember when you could obtain bumper stickers to show your support, just by asking.
Now, it's, "Five bucks gets you ..." No wonder there are so few bumper stickers this year.

5. Well "mom must like me better?" Obama's campaign gave us one after
we attended a "house party" in June.

Perhaps it depends on the office?

8. Ours were $2.00. But then we started giving them away (plus buttons) to our good volunteers. They
were pretty pleased to have them!

11. I paid $10.00 a piece for 4 yard signs

I'm not complaining in the least I'm glad that they are handling their resources that way. I also had to drive a ways to get them. I saw an ad in a local paper in my area that the GOP would actually deliver their signs to McSAME supporters. :wow: All you had to do was call them and they bring them out to you. I guess that explains why I see so many McSAME signs. This shows the difference between McSAME supporters and Obama ones...they sit on their lazy butts and get them delivered, they don't care enough to seek them out and get them on their own. :boring: Obama supporters are enthusiastic enough that they will seek them out, drive all over for them and pay for them! :bounce:

Edit: spelling

12. I live in CT
Here, I've noticed hardly any McCain/Palin bumper stickers on cars on the highway (compared to hundreds, still, of W'04). However, there are lots of Obama '08 stickers... this, to me, is very telling. Someone being moved enough to stick something to their ride. It has never been a question whether CT will cast its vote for Obama but this is a measure that struck me the other day.

Tut-tut

13. I'd send you one but I doubt you would get it in time for the election. I have been
giving them away here in Va today.

3. McCain's three highest-paid staff members
1. Mark Salter, McCain's speechwriter, who apparently has nothing more than "Joe the Plumber".
3. Trey Walker, manager of McCain's campaign in the mid-Atlantic. Where McCain is getting his clock cleaned in places like Virginia and Pennsylvania, and North Carolina is favoring Obama if you would consider NC to be a mid-Atlantic state.

Yea, money well spent.

4. Let's see, "frugal" and "efficient"...
Aren't these qualities we want in the Federal Government? Hmmmmm..., I'll have to ponder this before next Tuesday...

6. When you take in so many small donations
you must understand the sacrifice it is from people and spend that money carefully. I have not heard a negative word from his supporters over the money spent on Wednesday night, only from his opponents. Our budget is VERY tight, but I had to get in one more small donation in after the broadcast.

9. spending the money carefully...
...because it's a sacrifice from people who don't have a ton of it but want to support change - I believe that's at the core of it. I think the Obamas are sensible about money anyway, and Barack, having lived on food stamps at one time and never having had a ton of money or being a privileged person makes a huge difference too. Having someone as President who truely understands how to handle money and make the most of it will be a Godsend, IMO.

15. Obama spends 20 times as much on American flags!
"Then there is the $140,000 that the campaign has spent at companies that make American flags, apparently mostly for campaign events, compared with just $7,000 spent by the McCain campaign."

Take THAT, flagpin whackjobs!
