Kidnapped Chinese oil worker found in Sudan

KHARTOUM (Reuters) - A Chinese worker held in central Sudan for almost two weeks after he and eight colleagues were kidnapped from an oil field has been found alive, the Chinese embassy said on Friday.

Chinese Ambassador Li Chengwen told Reuters the man who had been found was in an "acceptable condition".

"The Sudanese side found him and handed him to us. He was not shot and is not suffering from any serious injuries. He just needs care," Li said.

Gunmen kidnapped the nine workers in the volatile energy-producing state of South Kordofan on October 18.
