1. Another vote for us
Good news after the loss in LA. How many more Congressional races are still in dispute?

6. the Louisiana seat was a lose-lose no matter how it worked out
I can't believe the voters down there continued to vote for Jefferson

the man is a criminal and no one should be voting for him

9. agreed
and I'm glad Jefferson didn't win. But this way we are keeping are margin, which I like. And hopefully in two years a decent, honest Democrat will win back the seat.

11. Agree as well
Jefferson shouldn't have gotten 10% of the vote.

What is particularly amusing is that the Freepers see this as a repudiation of Obama. uh huh.

3. Jefferson Losing was the best thing
Gets rid of a loser and a talking point, makes the electorate look smart for doing it, and then smarter when the put another one of our guys in (it is a Plus 28 seat for us afterall) after two years. Sucks to lose a seat but he (jefferson is not worth it)

On edit: Just checked 10tv.com. The margin was 2,311 votes, which means there won't be a recount. I finally have a Democratic congress critter.

10. I am crying now

This is just in from the Kilory for Congress Campaign Mannager Randy Borntrager,

I'd like to inform you that you can now refer to Mary Jo Kilroy as Member Elect Mary Jo Kilroy!

Because we won…

WE WON BY 2,311. That is outside the margin for an automatic recount.

Hooray!

Randy Borntrager

14. This is awesome
I live in Ohio and know what it feels like to have a Dem Congressman for the first time. I live in Canton so we've had Republican Ralph Regular for 30 years. John Boccieri beat out the Repuke Kirk Schurring in November.

Great news on a Sunday night.

This is *really* great news! Back in '06, Kilroy's defeat was the only blemish on an otherwise lovely evening. I'm so glad we'll be sending her to Washington now!!!

Check it out, someone already updated her Wikipedia! :wow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Jo_Kilroy

I supported her this time,(and last too) but when I saw the numbers on and somewhat after election day, I didn't think she had a chance..But as stated in other posts..wonderful things can happen, and to Mary Jo, one did...Congratulations....another one for the good guys..

22. Democrat wins central Ohio congressional race
Source: AP

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Democrats have taken a seat from House Republicans after the counting of provisional ballots in a race in central Ohio.

Unofficial results Sunday showed that Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy beat Republican Steve Stivers (STY'-vurz) by more than 2,000 votes.

Provisional ballots are issued at polls to people who believe they were wrongly denied the right to vote. Stivers had held a lead of less than 600 votes before they were counted.

Kilroy narrowly lost election to the 15th Congressional District seat in 2006 to Republican Deborah Pryce. Pryce chose not to seek re-election.

I am not shedding any tears over Jefferson losing in LA-2 but they lost a close one in LA-4 also.

27. We Won't Know On LA-4 Until After Tuesday
The margin is about 350 votes and there are still the provisional and absentee ballot to count. That total is expected to shrink but will it shrink by over 350?

36. With four pickups since 2006, Ohio is now Democrat:10, Republican 8
The Ohio House also became Democratic: this is the first time that a party won that chamber without having drawn the legislative boundaries in the previous "redistricting cycle".

The Ohio Senate is a problem. We did not even have a Dem candidate in our district last month.
