Obama to Deliver Major Speech on Economy on Thursday
Source: NYT/Reuters

President-elect Barack Obama plans to speak on the economy on Thursday in what his aides are billing as a major address in which he will offer more details of his proposed economic stimulus plan.

Obama, who takes office on January 20, plans to push for early passage of a two-year package of spending measures and tax cuts likely to total nearly $800 billion.

"He will make the case for urgent action on an American Recovery and Reinvestment plan that will save or create over 3 million jobs while investing in priorities like health care, energy and education that will jumpstart economic growth," the Obama transition team said in a statement.

The speech will be held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, at 11 a.m. EST.

1. ... and where the fuck is the asswipe who's still SUPPOSED to be POTUS?
AWOL as always. Leave the mess for someone else to clean up, just wander off to find something else to break.

What a limp dick Dimson truly is. :spank:

2. Handling the US economy JUST LIKE he handled every other business he ran into the ground.
He's waiting for someone else to bail him out.

3. All the more reason to press charges against him for his crimes.
what total BS to walk away from the crimes he has committed. We will never be able to move on until this is done.

4. Can someone explain this to me?
On some topics PE Obama says there is only one POTUS at a time and will not speak other than very generally, on other topics he speaks freely and specifically. The distinction is between foreign and domestic policy, right?

Only a few more days to hold out.

5. I think the distinction is more
his freely offering suggestions/plans for future legislation to be taken up by the Legislative Branch (as a former legislator) versus his purposeful withholding of specific comments on current U.S. policy (whether domestic or foreign), which is set by the current Executive Branch. The former would eventually need to align with what will be his own policy and the latter is letting the current Executive policy speak for itself until it expires, keeping him from appearing to be acting as if he were still campaigning, since he is now a President-elect...

6. Obama has shown he can effect the markets positively just by speaking.
I think he knows something that we don't; namely, the markets could tank tomorrow (even worse then they're doing today) and he wants to try and stop the collapse.

8. K, I think you are definitely on to something there.
It was probably obvious to others, but I thank you for the response.

It seemed like he was just being potentially hypocritical. Rather he may just be making an exception.
