(Peter) King noncommittal on (NY) Senate run
Source: NY Daily News

The Daily News' Glenn Blain reports:

Long Island Rep. Pete King is less gung ho about running for the U.S. Senate now that the Democrat in the race is Kirsten Gillibrand instead of Caroline Kennedy.

"It's an issue of money," King said after speaking at a Conservative Party conference in Albany. "I mean Caroline Kennedy -- I would have announced that day. The only reason I'm not now is that to win in New York, a Republican-Conservative needs about $30 million to $40 million. If I think the money is there, I'll make the run."

King slammed Gillibrand for flip-flopping on issues. "She's doing contortions. Everything from illegal immigration to gay marriage."

King said he's looking at 2010 Senate race "closely." He plans to spend the next several months traveling the state to gauge support and make a decision in the middle to late summer.

1. Come on, Peter; you know you want to
Take the plunge, buddy. Surely your unique brand of crazy will win voters from all over the Empire State! Sure you would have run against Caroline Kennedy. Of course (wink, wink). But against Gillibrand? Well, now it would be a matter of money (insert hyena laugh here), because of course Caroline Kennedy don't gots no money.

2010 seems a perfect time to get started on your post-congressional career, Mr. King.

4. Please let this extremist run for statewide office, GOP.
He'll lose by double digits to any challenger he faces.
