Associated PressBADEN-BADEN, Germany (AP) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel (AHN'-geh-lah MEHR'-kuhl) says Germany wants to bear its share of the responsibility in Afghanistan and help shape the West's relationship with Iran.
Merkel met with President Barack Obama on Friday to discuss the economic crisis and foreign affairs, including the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan. Merkel says the United States has shown a renewed willingness to cooperate with European allies.
Obama praised Merkel's leadership and says he looks forward to working with her and says no country can isolate itself from the global market. Obama is on an eight-day trip to Europe.
