MUMBAI (Reuters) - HCL Technologies Ltd has bagged a five-year IT services contract worth close to $170 million from software giant Microsoft Corp, the Economic Times business daily reported on Monday.

A spokesman for the Indian software firm confirmed the deal but declined to provide further details.

Under the transaction, HCL will provide technology services for Microsoft's online service business, the report said citing a person familiar with the negotiations.

HCL is likely to deploy 600 employees on the Microsoft contract, with about 250 of them already working on the project, the report added.

4. This is globalization.
All globalization does, for America, is empty us of jobs. The same will hold true for India in time. This is the way it works, when a labor force gets 'too' expensive, the company pulls out of that country and moves to the next slave labor market. (Yes this includes IT and software development) Leaving the abandoned country to wither on the vine.

Its a lot like the housing industry in Chicago: Let a neighborhood fall to shit, then buy up all the shitty houses, fix them up (sort of) and then gentrify the neighborhood. Meanwhile, the already gentrified neighborhood begins its fall to shit until it can be bought up by developers and the cycle begins again.

That's why this sucks, and will continue to suck and maybe in three or four generations America might become the next place of cheap as hell labor. But then, America as we know it (Social Security, medicade, medicare, any semblance of a functional government and democracy) will cease to be.

5. Makes me sick
HCL recently took over the data center of a large NJ corporation. Lots of Americans out, Indians in. This is just fucking insane.
