Obama: U.S. resolved to stop piracy
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — President Barack Obama said Monday that the United States must be “resolved to halt the spread of piracy” in the region around the Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Aden.

The United States will have to confront pirates and hold them “accountable for their crimes,” he said at the start of a Transportation Department event.

Obama spoke one day after the U.S. military killed three pirates who had been holding the captain of the U.S.-flagged Maersk Alabama hostage on a lifeboat.

2. By the end of the day, the Reich Wing will complain
That Obama is working unilaterally to stop pirates.
And that we should work with the UN for sanctions against Somalia.

Remember, you read it here first.

3. Instead of making us more safe, Bush ignored the pirates for 8 years...
... while they collected millions in ransoms.

4. The pirates do not have...
Any oil or areas that Haliburton can exploit so why bother. Bush logic.

8. To be fair, there is not much he could have done.
This was the first time that an American-flagged ship was taken. Bush was never tested by pirates. We can only imagine the outcry if he had taken any action against pirates without cause, just as if President Obama had done something without first being attacked. Now that there has been an incident of piracy against Americans, we have an excuse to get involved.

7. War on poverty, War on Drugs, War on terror, War on piracy; I wish we could win just one war before
we start another.

9. If we start a War on Piracy, it's just to feel good
Until now, the pirates have been fairly business-like, hostages released after ransom is paid.

Any "war" will cost far more than the few millions that would be shelled out to pirates.

Sailors on merchant vessels may be in more danger now, after the U.S. killed the three pirates.
