US unveils plan to tackle piracy
Source: BBC

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has unveiled a four-point plan to tackle piracy in the Gulf of Aden.

She said an expanded international effort was needed, as well as freezing pirates' assets, and plugging gaps in the shipping industry's own defences.

Improving the situation in Somalia itself was also key, she said.

Pirate attacks have increased in the past few days, including on US vessels, despite anti-piracy patrols by the US and other navies.

3. If this works as well as their War on Drugs, and the War on Terror . .
.
.
.

The War on Poverty, and whatever else war . .

I don't be expecting too much success . .

USA ain't doing real good at playing as the World's Police.

Preemption, unilateral actions, disregard for the UN and the ICC

USA is a rogue state on its own, they got the biggest guns;

but that's all they got.

To be effective, they have to have the World's respect . . .

I think they gotta work on that a wee bit . .

4. lol. try reading. And this will be an international effort
if you think the Chinese, the Greeks, Italians and French are happy about the piracy situation, you need to pay more attention. And since we got rid of bush, the world is, in general, more than willing to cooperate with the U.S.- particularly on something like this.
