Van carrying suspected immigrants rolls; 4 killed
Source: AzCentral.com

GREEN VALLEY - A minivan packed with as many as 14 suspected illegal immigrants crashed on Interstate 19 about 70 miles north of the Mexican border early Saturday, killing four people and injuring 10 others, authorities said.
The crash happened along a section of highway commonly used by human smugglers, who often pack up to two dozen people in large vehicles for the run from the border to Tucson and Phoenix.(snip)

Arriving fire crews treated the injured and called several helicopters and ambulances to take them to hospitals in Tucson, about 20 miles to the north, said Green Valley Fire Department Capt. Melissa Smith.

I-19 was closed for several hours after the accident.

Thank God they can afford air ambulances and medical care, I don't think my insurance would cover all of it.

6. Didn't say they weren't human beings
and when our former Governor tried to bill Mexico for medical care for their citizens she got flipped the bird and told that they were engaging in illegal activity and therefor not covered under Mexico's' universal health care program.

That's compassion!

Air Ambulance costs $6 to 7000 for each patient, guess who gets to pick up that tab?

5. Check Point
Wonder why they didn't catch them at the vehicle check point which is quite a distance south of Green Valley. All traffic has to stop at it & there is no way around it that I'm aware of.

16. For you, my good friend? special price!
These are the good thick plaid blankets Mexicans actually use on their beds, not the cheap striped or "bird" patterned tourist blankets we all use to decorate our couches and car seats.

18. the best vehicle we ever found was a pretty new 450 10 cylinder gas
Edited on Mon Apr-20-09 06:19 PM by Kali
but it had a busted tranny housing or something under there and they had cut the beautiful rack almost in half so it wasn't any good for hauling cattle or horses. shiny red and built for Mexico but had the correct stuff for here. I did put that on e-bay but no takers. One of the regular hunters that comes out here finally bought it.

It was one of THOSE kind of vehicles - the kind where everybody has the helpful advice for how much it is worth but none of them ever actually OFFER anything for it. (mustang owners know that one, I remember)

We sold some of the vans for scrap, drove a dodge pick up for a couple years before it died, several of the vans have been good vehicles (still driving one) and traded a suburban for some other work. Mostly they are old, very high mileage and the vans have the interiors ripped out (so they can fit more people in there).

As for the blankets - I have given a lot away but we use them! They are great for company/camping/extra padding - you name it and they wash fine, last for ever. Just ugly colors and plaid but good blankets!

Anyway it seems to have tapered off somewhat and the whole thing is such a stupid game that will never accomplish what they want. Time to try something else.
