Hundreds march for immigration reform
Source: The Arizona Republic

Maria Ruis sat in the shade cradling her 1-year-old disabled daughter, Gracie, Sunday afternoon before marching in favor of immigration reform.

Ruis, a restaurant manager and a housekeeper, said the United States is the only place where Gracie, who has Down syndrome, can receive proper medical care.

"We're not asking for anything for free. We work and we pay taxes here. This is my seventh year paying taxes here," Ruis said. "We're not all bad."

1. Thanks for nothing.
Yup, we love lower wages.

Yes, we love not having benefits.

Sure, more people, more traffic, more sprawl -- is wonderful.

Who needs unions when companies can keep hiring exploitable employees?

2. You forgot to blame them for widespread tooth decay and lefthandedness. Surely, you don't blame
Americans for tooth decay and rampant lefthandedness. ;)

Some might argue that Americans (and the politicians we elect) are more responsible for the problems you cited than are immigrants. I suppose it's easier to blame "others". That way it's not our own fault.

BTW, America's unions have apparently left you behind.

"The nation’s two major labor federations have agreed for the first time to join forces to support an overhaul of the immigration system, leaders of both organizations said on Monday. The accord could give President Obama significant support among unions as he revisits the stormy issue in the midst of the recession.

The accord endorses legalizing the status of illegal immigrants already in the United States and opposes any large new program for employers to bring in temporary immigrant workers, officials of both federations said."

3. Good luck - s/he's on a roll
Anti-immigration people here are already convinced, they don't need no stinking nuances. They've read a couple of Computer World articles and are confident they know everything there is to be known on the subject.
