Nevada Senator (Ensign) calls president "irresponsible" (for shaking hands with Chavez)
Source: KTNV

Some republicans are criticizing President Obama for getting friendly with Venezuela leader, Hugo Chavez.

During the Summit of the Americas, a photo was taken of President Obama shaking hands with Chavez. In the picture, both men are smiling.

Republican Senator, John Ensign, of Nevada says it's irresponsible for the president to be acting that way.

"I think it was irresponsible for the president to be seen kind of laughing and joking with Hugo Chavez," he said.

"This is, you know, this is a person along the lines with Fidel Castro and the types of dictatorship that he has down there in Venezuela and the Anti-Americanism that he has been spreading around the world is not somebody the President of the United States should be seen as having kind of friendly relations with."

1. At a multi-lateral conference it's good manners and good policy. No one cares what Ensign thinks.nt

4. Especially those of us in Nevada - except dogs and cats.
As long as Ensign is a politician, he's not practicing veterinary medicine. Animals from all over Southern Nevada are vastly relieved and want to make sure he stays in politics.

19. As a cat person, I will stubbornly believe that
my cats would rather entertain a pack of small dogs for a week than be forced to endure Ensign's dubious care . . .

Some dogs, on the other hand, might well be taken in by his fake tan and convince themselves that he would spend hours outdoors, playing fetch and going on long 'walkies' with them.

12. The mob wants to put their pretty boy in the WH, I suspect.
He's a dunderheaded empty suit, but as malleable as * because he has no principles other than the love of money and power.

13. I taught him everything he knows about culturing and identifying
veterinary pathogens. Wish I could have taught him something PRACTICAL, like politics.

Dumbass.

7. Hey John - if he'd snubbed him then Chavez would be even MORE anti-American
By shaking his hand and actually being, you know, polite, he's potentially effected a huge change in our relationship.

23. They shoot first, ask questions never.
After about a trillion dollars gets forked over because of 9/11 don't you think we deserve a rational explanation as to how two planes knocked down four towers? Of course Guliani may have signed off on those failed fire protection reports and Bush has his convenient "Promise not to sue me or you don't get any 9/11 money" contracts handy.
