Coleman taking Senate case to higher court
Source: The Hill

The Minnesota Senate race is officially headed for the state Supreme Court after Norm Coleman’s campaign announced Monday that it was filing a notice of appeal.

The move will further prevent the seating of Al Franken (D), who at this point holds a lead of more than 300 votes in the race.

Coleman’s lawyers believe they will be able to argue that different standards were applied in different places and that a February ruling made by a three-judge panel applied a different standard to ballots than was used on Election Day.

...snip...

The document Coleman’s campaign is filing is largely perfunctory and won’t contain a lengthy legal brief detailing their case.

Talk about bad losers. She's Norm Coleman's poster girl right about now, no doubt.

Does Norm know, though, what happened to Ellen's court fight?

2. He's just denying Dems of another seat.
Sore loser. Shows what Coleman thinks of his constituents in Minnesota. They don't need full representation, because they likely haven't had it under him anyway.

What a huge piece of crap Coleman is. :puke:

5. Coleman's Just a Puppet
The fact of the matter is that Norm Coleman is nothing more than a puppet for the right-wing. Coleman knows he lost, the party knows he lost. They see this as just another way slow down the efforts of the Democrats. The republican party has no solutions and doesn't give a rat's ass about the well being of the American people.

I signed up to give a dollar a day to PCCC, every day until jerkface goes away. Now every time I see another episode of his soap opera announced, I just think about more dollars raised for progressive candidates. I find this beneficial to my blood pressure. Anyone can play . . . here's the link:

Exec says Coleman donor ordered $100K payments
Sworn statement backs allegation that Kazeminy directed fees to an insurance firm to benefit the Colemans.

By PAUL McENROE and TONY KENNEDY, Star Tribune staff writers

Last update: March 26, 2009 - 11:51 PM

The former finance chief of a Texas company controlled by Nasser Kazeminy, a close friend of former Sen. Norm Coleman, said in a deposition last week that Kazeminy ordered $100,000 in fees be paid to a Minneapolis insurance agency where Coleman's wife was employed.

B.J. Thomas, who was chief financial officer of Deep Marine Technology Inc., said that $75,000 of that sum was paid to Hays Companies even though he saw no evidence of Deep Marine receiving any consulting services from Hays.

Thomas' deposition, taken under oath on March 19 and obtained by the Star Tribune, is the first corroboration from an official at Deep Marine of allegations made by company founder Paul McKim in a lawsuit filed last year against the company.

In the two weeks before the November U.S. Senate election, two lawsuits were filed against Deep Marine -- one by McKim and one by a group of minority shareholders. In them, Kazeminy was accused of funneling payments to Hays to benefit the Colemans, as well as other alleged financial wrongdoing.

Pawlenty has officially gotten his name wiped out of contention as result of this. He's too close to it to not be burned up in this. LOVE IT!

34. Franken asks high court to act quickly
Minnesota's need for its second senator justifies prompt hearing, Franken says
By KEVIN DUCHSCHERE, Star Tribune
Last update: April 21, 2009 - 12:24 PM

... A day after Republican Coleman appealed last week's trial decision awarding the U.S. Senate election to Franken, lawyers for the DFLer this morning filed a motion proposing that the Supreme Court hear oral arguments as soon as two weeks from now.

"Because of the important public policy concern of ensuring that the interests of the citizens of Minnesota are properly represented in Congress, this appeal should be expedited," Franken lawyer David Lillehaug says in the motion.

Franken is asking that Coleman deliver the trial transcript to the high court no later than Wednesday and that Coleman provide his brief in the case by Monday.

Franken's opposition brief would be ready by May 2, Lillehaug says, clearing the way for Coleman's reply brief by May 4 and oral arguments "very shortly after the reply brief is submitted" ... http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/43345087.html?elr=KArksi8cyaiUncacyi8cyaiUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aU7DYaGEP7vDEh7P:DiUs

38. He's being funded by the right wing, and he signed a deal with the devil.
The deal made was this: you deny the Democrats the Senator they need to get things done and cause Franken to push his donations to the limit, and we'll take of you. He already knows his public career is over, he's going to go a nice cushy job in a think tank or some lobbyist or whatever. It's going on six months now, maybe another six before this is all settled.
