Clinton, Bush booked for joint Toronto appearance
Source: Toronto Globe and Mail

WASHINGTON — Former U.S. presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush will appear together in Toronto next month on a public stage for the first time since Mr. Bush ended his presidency, in a remarkable twist on the cultural cold war that Barack Obama and others are trying to lay to rest.

The two will be appearing at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on May 29 for a moderated "conversation" that is expected to last about two hours.

1. Sounds like a policy debate to me, much like the Clinton/Dole feature on 60 minutes

Do you have an issue with Democrats discussing issues with Republicans? If so, why?

3. I think war criminals should not be debated with
As a Canadian, I am embarrassed that our neocon government is allowing Bush to pretend he can freely travel abroad. I am also appalled that former President Clinton is legitimizing this cretinous waste of oxygen by sitting down with him as an equal. Bush should be shunned.

2. Sure Bill, debate the war criminal
After all, they're both members of the president's club. A lot like Skull & Bones. :puke:

7. They're both members of the war criminals' club too
Or have you forgotten about the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who died as a result of Clinton's sanctions on Iraq? What was it Madeline Albright said about them? Oh yes, http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1084">here it is:

Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it.

5. As a Canadian you should ask yourself what * is after in my country.
Pay attention because something tells me that it's your freedom. Heads up folks! Do not let Clinton coming along fool you. Lock up the men, women and children with those two coming to town.

10. Bush has twice gone to Canada
First time was a speech in Calgary, the oil town bastion of Canada's Conservative PM Stephen Harper, a Bush fellow travellor with the misfortune of getting a bit late to the party. Bush went in and out of Calgary to speak as smooth as what through whatever. Now he's going to test the bigger waters of Toronto, which is far less like Dallas than Calgary is. And he'll have his friend Bill attending there to legitimize the event.
