Sydney man shot 34 times in head with nail gun

CANBERRA (Reuters) - Australian police released Friday a shocking x-ray photo showing the skull of a murdered Chinese immigrant shot 34 times in the head and neck with a high-power nail gun.

The body of Chen Liu, 27, was found by two children last year in marshland in south Sydney, wrapped in a carpet and bound with electrical wire.

Detectives said the weapon used was a standard gas nail gun widely available and used in construction, firing nails up to 85mm (3.3 inches) long.

"In 36 years, I've never seen a murder of this nature," Homicide Squad Superintendent Geoff Beresford told reporters.

Sorry, it's not a one-way street. Whenever a shooting story comes up here, the gun control buddies come out to complain that a law would somehow have prevented it. When its pointed that there there is a law, and the shooter ignored it, then the argument is there ought to be another law.

For some reason, when someone kills with some other weapon besides a firearm, especially if it happens in a country with severe gun control, the gun control buddies take the position that those of us who support the 2nd amendment are not allowed to point out the inverse of their argument. In other words, people do kill people, regardless of what weapons are available.

It'd be an awfully convenient world for you if you were allowed to exploit every illegal shooting as an example of why we need to restrict the rights of all gunowners in the USA, and yet the gunowners could not come out to demonstrate the futility of gun control when a story like this occurs.

If you seriously think its ok for gun control advocates on DU to have their cake and eat it too, then who's the asshole?

29. Fact is that murders make front page news in the largest cities

whereas they're so commonplace in American cities that most aren't even reported.

More than that- there hasn't been a single mass shooting in Australia since the gun buyback program in 1996, whereas they've become a weekly (often many times a week) event in the states.
