3 'probable' swine flu cases found in Dallas County (TX)
Source: Dallas Morning News

Three Dallas County residents were identified early today as having “probable” cases of swine flu, health officials said.

None of the three people – a 24-year-old, a 7-year-old and a 3-month-old – has been hospitalized, and the cases do not appear to be related, officials said. It is unclear whether any of the three had traveled to Mexico recently.

“We literally found out this information hours ago,” said Dr. John Carlo, the county health department’s medical director. “They’ve all been very minor.”

The news came as county officials announced their effort to inform thousands of travelers coming to Dallas from Mexico by bus every day to seek medical attention immediately if they feel sick.

1. We are in Fort Worth, just next door and my husband (who had a flu shot) has
flu symptoms. He's on Tamiflu right now and I am going to call tomorrow to get some for me and my son to use.

6. Please try to let us know how you are doing.
Which is difficult I know if you do have the flu, but the not knowing here on DU would be difficult also.
You are such a valuable source of information and commentary to me.

crossed fingers for you.......

3. But let's not panic and close the airports or anything.
This could or could not be a drill. I think it should be treated as such.

5. Our problem will not so much be the airports as it will be the bus stations

The Dallas County health department is getting ready to hand out a travel health alert to all bus companies in the county that travel to and from Mexico.

Company employees told us they found out about the outbreak Saturday morning and have yet to receive a list of precautions or word of any travel warnings.

But Zachary Thompson from the Dallas County health department plans to issue his own alert next week.

"We cannot wait on the CDC. We have to begin to take precautions now," he said. The target of the alert: bus companies in the county that specialize on travel to and from Mexico. He's worried that passengers coming into Texas are not being screened.
