Child dead of flu in U.S. was from Mexico

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The 23-month-old child who died in Texas of the new swine flu virus was a Mexican who traveled to the United States for medical treatment, a spokeswomen for the Houston health department told CNN on Wednesday.

"The child came to Houston for medical treatment. The family had traveled to South Texas. The child became ill and they transported the child to Houston for medical care," Houston health department spokeswoman Kathy Barton told CNN by telephone

the disease was not contracted in the United States. Or that the baby was already sick when the disease was contracted. The article does not make it clear.
