Anti-torture activists march to White House
Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 100 anti-torture activists are marching solemnly from the U.S. Capitol to the White House.

Protesters gathered at the Capitol on Thursday morning. They say they are protesting detention policies in the United States and what they call the government's refusal to prosecute torture.

The marchers are wearing orange jumpsuits and black hoods over their heads to represent Guantanamo Bay detainees. Some have signs on their backs bearing the names of inmates who have been cleared for release, but remain in custody.

I was at a bigger rally a few days ago for a local school principal who had been unfairly fired.

4. Why doesn't this merit wall-to-wall teabaggeresque coverage?
More than 100 is several times more people than gathered for several of Glenn ("the extra n is for knowledge!") Beck's Tea Bag Tantrums. Fox should have this on a loop, shouldn't they? I mean, it's a protest against those Democrat Socialists in Congress and that Socialist Democrat in the White House, right?

8. Anti-torture activists arrested at White House
By NAFEESA SYEED – 3 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Dressed in an orange jumpsuit, Ken Crowley stood silently facing the White House.

On Crowley's back, a black sign printed with the name of a Libyan man read, "Cleared for Release."

The Washington, D.C., resident, who was among 61 people arrested during an anti-torture demonstration Thursday, said he wanted to bring attention to the plight of detainees held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"Everywhere I go and I talk about Guantanamo, people say, 'Oh, that's closed,'" said Crowley, who is in his 60s. "This movement is important because it brings awareness" ... http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jgOLS9bxJ4L58oWKMKWbwnxKURhwD97T0ISO0
