Laura Bush glad Obama picked woman for high court
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON – Former first lady Laura Bush says she's pleased that President Barack Obama nominated a woman for the Supreme Court.

"I think she sounds like a winner and a good nominee," Bush said of Sonia Sotomayor, the federal appeals judge Obama picked.

Mrs. Bush said in an interview broadcast Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America" that "as a woman, I'm proud that there might be another woman on the court. I wish her well." She was interviewed in Dallas, where the Bushes moved after their White House tenure.

On another subject, Mrs. Bush said her husband will have no comment on any Obama decisions. He feels that as a former president, "he owes President Obama his silence on issues and there's no reason to second-guess any decisions he makes," Mrs. Bush said.

1. That was a nice thing for her to say

Question:Is she still living in the same house that Goat Boy lives in?

I keep hearing they split up.

They probably split about 20 years ago.

2. Wow - I thought it would take more than 6 months for her tranquilizers to wear off!
She actually said something? Weird.

9. She doesn't need to be off her tranquilizers to say something nice.
Especially, when she doesn't have to give much thought to it.

Did she say anything beyond the point that she thought it was a nice choice? I don't think so!

I'm glad she said something nice, though.

4. Not to be rude to the former First Lady but I couldn't care less what she thinks
Didn't care then, don't care now.

If I never see her or her husband again it'll be fine with me.

5. At least the Bushes are showing far more class..
than the Cheneys. Really, Laura didn't have to say anything positive, but went out of her way to support Sotomayor. Let's at least geve them credit for being civil.

And she's definitely better than Cheney and his daughter have been.

18. Yes. After all Laura said in early 2001 she wouldn't have voted for Bush had she not been married
to him because she comes from a Democratic family.

She was put in a time-out chair for about six months after that comment. After that she was on a short leash.

10. Just finished "American Wife"
A well written supposedly fiction about a couple alarmingly similar to Pickles and the Idiot.

I felt much more sympathetic towards her than before. Thought it was just going to be a "chick" read -- but much more than I had expected.

Key line for me as the character was musing about her (and his) critics - "I just married him, YOU gave him power."

17. Hmm,
He feels that as a former president, "he owes President Obama his silence on
issues and there's no reason to second-guess any decisions he makes,"

I wish Cheney followed this example,he's on the news more now
than when he was VP.

19. Laura Bush Calls Sotomayor a ‘Good Nominee’
Source: NY Times

By Jim Rutenberg
Former First Lady Laura Bush this morning voiced support for President Obama’s selection of Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the United States Supreme Court and offered kind words to First Lady Michelle Obama.

“I think she sounds like a very interesting and good nominee,” she said of Ms. Sotomayor’s nomination during an interview on the ABC News program “Good Morning America.”

“As a woman, I’m proud that there might be another woman on the court.’’

She said of Mrs. Obama, “I like to watch her, I think she’s doing great,’’ adding, “I hope she’ll discover, and I think she has, that she really does have a podium and that people do watch her, from all over the world. And she can be such a great example, and is, for people everywhere,” she said.

28. remember Laura defended Michelle Obama when the whores went after her
on the comment about first time being proud of this country. her husband is still a scumbag and one of the worst people around.

but i give credit for Laura in some of the things she has done. she was also very welcoming of Michelle and the girls when they will still at the WH .
