Coroner: Danny Gans died accidentally
Source: Associated Press

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas entertainer Danny Gans' death was accidental, caused by a prescription painkiller, a coroner said Tuesday.

Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy said an autopsy, toxicology and microscopic samples showed the 52-year-old Gans died from toxic levels of hydromorphone. The opiate drug, commonly marketed under the brand name Dilaudid, is used to treat chronic pain, which Gans suffered from, Murphy said.

Murphy said Gans had heart disease caused by high blood pressure — which makes the heart work overtime and left him more susceptible to heart irregularities. Gans also had a condition (polycythemia) that results in too many red blood cells, Murphy said. (The condition is the opposite of anemia.)

"Mr. Gans' health conditions placed him at greater risk for heart irregularities, and the hydromorphone was a factor in exacerbating those risks," Murphy said. "We clearly listed this as accidental."

1. I had a feline patient with polycythemia vera years ago.
We sucked his blood every two weeks for years. Never could get his hematocrit down to halfway normal, but he was happy until he fell apart at the very end. We had him on a chemo drug, too. Hydroxyurea?

Bizarre condition, and not good to have long-term.

3. Yup, hydroxyurea.
It has a myelosuppressive effect.

2. Scary
Just about every prescription drug out there comes with a warning that is at least 2 pages long. Don't take with this, don't mix with that. Serious side effects may occur... Contact your Dr. if you experience any of these rare but potentially fatal symptoms.

Geez.

I nearly died taking 2 aspirin. I am paranoid about taking anything much stronger than a vitamin pill and I don't doubt that someone has died from those.

Sounds like this guy took too much and it didn't go well with his pre-existing conditions.

4. Aspirin has a long list of potential side effects, too. Take as few OTC or prescription drugs as
you can possibly get away with.

5. And we're supposed to believe this?
Vegas is the most corrupt city in America. Judges can be bought and sold there. So can pretty much anybody. We're supposed to believe what the coroner says about a presumably wealthy and well known citizen?

Scuse me while I LMAO.

I have first-hand experience with Vegas' corruption. I'm not gonna go into it for obvious reasons, but I happen to know for a fact that you can pretty much buy whoever you want there.
