WASHINGTON: The United States has announced a new programme to fast-track high-technology trade with India from which General Electric's India division will be the first Indian company to benefit.

"This is an important step in enabling a more rapid and efficient flow of sensitive technology between India and the United States," US Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke announced at the US-India Business Council's 34th Anniversary "Synergies Summit" Wednesday.

"This is an important step in enabling a more rapid and efficient flow of sensitive technology between India and the United States," Locke said.

"It also is a significant effort to build trust between the United States and India. We're looking forward to reciprocal actions from our partner," he said encouraging other Indian firms also to take advantage of the programme.

Under the programme, the General Electric unit will be designated a "validated end user," allowing it to more easily import technologies for security-sensitive industries such as civilian aircraft and explosive detection.

Snip~ "India also needs to boost its protection of intellectual property rights, he said. "Piracy and counterfeiting is still a serious problem and India's criminal enforcement regime remains weak."

the reason why America is cozying up with India is the list of projects lined up by the Indian Government:

* $100 bn investment in Nuclear power over the next 20 years
* $10 bn fighter aircraft deal (120 planes)
* $10 - 20 bn army/navy investment
* $50 bn investment in renewable energy over the next 10 years - solar & wind being the primary investment areas
* $2 bn civilian aircraft purchase scheme (already awarded nearly half & half to Boeing & Airbus)

US wasn't invited for a lot of this earlier - France & Russia were the primary winners earlier in these areas. Now, US sees a huge market for selling their products and giving GE a go ahead is the first step ...

business speaks ...

3. U.S. Stealth Technology Secrets Sold by an Indian Expatriate

U.S. Stealth Technology Secrets Sold by an Indian Expatriate

India's juggernaut in controlling U.S companies started with the takeover of U.S. hotel and motel industry by hindu caste of Patels. Now, with greater hegemonic ambitions, Indians are taking over U.S. high tech companies in pharmaceuticals, packaging, and chemical industries and transferring their intellectual property back to India. America should wake up to the theft of its economic and strategic secrets by Indians, who are taking advantage of the American peoples trust of the citizens of world's largest democracy. Being from world's largest democracy does not grant sainthood or prevent one from stealing secrets of world's strongest democracy. Political systems do not breed commonality of interests rather they create competition to gain economic advantage and exploit strategic vulnerabilities.

6. Hell, our politicians all serve their globalist masters not the citizens of the U.S.
Funny, I thought the voters were sovereign. My bad!
