1. Farrah Fawcett, 1947-2009
Source: http://www.kansascity.com

Farrah Fawcett died at 9:28 a.m. PST at St. John’s Heath Center in Santa Monica, Calif. She had recently returned to St. John's for treatment of complications from anal cancer, first diagnosed three years ago. Her longtime partner Ryan O'Neal was at her side throughout her final days.

Like so much about Fawcett's life – including her bumpy relationship with O'Neal – her heroic struggle to beat the disease was closely followed by her legion of fans.

"I've watched her this past year fight with such courage and so valiantly, but with such humor," Fawcett's Charlie's Angels costar Kate Jackson told PEOPLE in November 2007.

She had it all: she was pretty, successful, and despite some questionable roles over the years, proved herself to be an accomplished and able actress.

Now all we have left are her moments on film. :(

10.  Farrah Fawcett, sex symbol and actress, dies
Source: CNN

Farrah Fawcett, the blonde-maned actress whose best-selling poster and "Charlie's Angels" stardom made her one of the most famous faces in the world, has died. She was 62.

Fawcett, who checked into a Los Angeles, California, hospital in early April, had been battling anal cancer on and off for three years.

Ryan O'Neal, Fawcett's romantic partner since the mid-1980s, recently told People magazine that the sex symbol was declining.

"She stays in bed now. The doctors see that she is comfortable. Farrah is on IVs, but some of that is for nourishment. The treatment has pretty much ended," he said in a story posted May 7.

Fawcett's cancer journey has been documented in a television special partly shot by the actress. Fawcett began shooting "Farrah's Story," by taking a camera to a doctor's appointment. Eventually, the film expanded to include trips overseas in hopes of treating the cancer.

The documentary aired on NBC on May 15.

FARRAH FAWCETT, 1947-2009
Passing of a Texas Angel

Austin 360.com
University of Texas alumnus and star of TV and film, Farrah Fawcett lost her battle with cancer today.
(snip)
Born Feb. 2, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was named Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett by her mother, who said she added the Farrah because it sounded good with Fawcett. She was less than a month old when she underwent surgery to remove a digestive tract tumor with which she was born.

After attending Roman Catholic grade school and W.B. Ray High School, Fawcett enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin. Fellow students voted her one of the 10 most beautiful people on the campus and her photos were eventually spotted by movie publicist David Mirisch, who suggested she pursue a film career. After overcoming her parents' objections, she agreed.

I can tell you all the girls wanted to look like her, at least the hair, (I sure did) and all the boys drooled when she graced the screen. i remember that mane toss she did on the Charlie Angels opening, and the reaction it got from my brothers...

For me, THE absolute 70's icon.

I have never had a celebrity crush in my life like I did for Farrah. She was almost like the modern incarnation of Venus to me. I suspect a lot of (straight) guys who grew up in the '70s feel the same way.

I am glad she is no longer suffering. Now I will always remember her the way she was.

44. Extremely sad. She was very influential.

I refused to watch "Charlie's Angels," I thought it was manipulative. However, I admired her role as the creepy, sociopathic Diane Downs in the mini-series "Small Sacrifices," in which she showed she knew how to act. She took other serious roles later in life, and was one of the few sex-symbol actresses who continued to get roles later in their lives.

57. Yeah, I've seen that one a few times. Watched the actual sad event as it played out.
Happened not far from where I lived. Thing is, Diane Downs was a real piece of work, and Farrah made her look far too sympathetic and appealing, but her acting was great. Ryan O'Neal was in that one, too, as Downs' lover who was the catalyst for her shooting/killing her children. Also liked Farrah in her appearances on the TV series "The Guardian" a few years ago.

She leaves a legacy and her courage is greatly to be admired. Sad to lose her far too soon!

62. I know someone who met her
Did some home remodelling for her awhile back (before she got sick). He said she was an absolutely sweet and gracious person. Brought the workers cold drinks and never complained about the noise and mess. And when you think of all the assholes out there who continue to suck air. It's so unfair. Farewell, Farrah.

Bless her heart. She fought the good fight for so long, wanting only to live. I hope she finds peace and rest, and no more pain. May the angels light your way, Farrah. You were one of a kind.

75. R.I.P.
She had such a unique impact on the culture during my high school years in the '70s and fortunately managed to grow to be respected as a talented actress and performer beyond the pin-up that the era originally made her out to be.

Rest in peace dear lady.

76. I liked her & wish for her soul to be in peace
But I don't get why this is so deeply moving to some. I went on a date w/a 35 year old girl recently, who had Charlies Angles theme on her phone & refrenced the show, WAY too often. It was border-line creepy..

I guess a LOT of women really took Charlie's Angles seriously?

and how all the girls tried to copy Farrah's hairstyle.

Rest in peace Angel.

84. Funniest Thing
I had no idea until recently that she was only on the first season of CAs. I would say that is the thing she is most associated with and that SHE is the actor most associated with that show.

103. Uh...Culkin testified that there was NO sexual contact...
...and that he'd never observed Jackson doing anything improper, either to himself or anyone else.

Terminally weird, yes. A molester? I don't think so.

96. Farrah came from my home town and went to the same
high school I did (only 10 years older at the same time my brother was there). I met her late sister when I was living in our home town at the height of her career. The sister was very, very sweet. I also saw Farrah's documentary (I guess about a month ago) and it was excellent. She was beautiful on the inside too. My heart goes out to all those that loved her so much. What a sad, sad day yesterday was.

99. RIP, Farrah.

Your 'Burning Bed' is now a euphemism for a role
where an actress/actor emerges as a serious artist.

You gave us that and so much more, dear lady.
Thank you.

100. I liked her as Harry O's girlfriend.
She's the only woman in the seventies whom I can remember being really jeaous of -- but still couldn't help liking. My husband drooled every time she appeared on "Harry O" as David Janssen's girlfriend, and we went to see Myra Breckenridge just because Farrah was in the cast.

RIP, sweet lady.
