Sims to run for governor, is 3rd Democrat in race

OLYMPIA -- Ron Sims, Washington's highest-ranking black politician, will announce his bid for governor today.

Sims, a 55-year-old Democrat, is King County executive and has run the state's second-largest government for seven years. He told The Associated Press last night that he will offer "imaginative and innovative government" to reshape Olympia from top to bottom.

Sims said he planned to announce his bid at Seattle's Pier 57 at 10 a.m.

He knows King County uses Diebold. He was notified of the problems with Diebold BEFORE it hit the New York Times.

Not a thing has been done by anyone at King County, despite four phone calls from me and several other contacts from people who are politically connected, to see that the Diebold voting machines are made safe. They have not even asked a single question, or so much as requested a report, so they will know where to look.
