GOP South Carolina lawmaker: Wilson should apologize
Source: mcclatchy

WASHINGTON — Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina on Tuesday became the first Republican lawmaker to make a public appeal to Rep. Joe Wilson to apologize to his House colleagues for yelling "You lie!" at President Barack Obama as he addressed Congress.

Inglis, who represents the conservative Upstate section of South Carolina, said Wilson's apology to Obama immediately after his speech last week isn't enough.

"Joe also broke House rules," Inglis said. "That problem could easily be fixed by an apology to the House. In the absence of an apology, the House could choose to police itself through a resolution of disapproval."

Inglis took his hard stand shortly before the House was scheduled to take up a "resolution of disapproval" reprimanding Wilson, also a South Carolina Republican, under rules governing conduct of the chamber's 435 members.

1. An apology is worthless if it's not sincere.
Forget it.

Wilson is dirt. No more, no less.

5. In politics, I would disagree. Better to have a vicious mutt that's too cowed to give

trouble than a fearlessly feral one.

Inglis is wise enough to know that this splinter group of anarchists are trawling the moral and social abyss, and doom the party to annihilation.

2. Civility and manners are just two
of the graces that have been eliminated by Republicans.

3. on the contrary: they demand civility in the extreme by Dems
as in, no matter what a rethug might say, Dems must never, ever, ever, respond in kind or defend themselves. If they do, rethugs immediately start whining about "crossing the line" and going "beyond the pale" and other such nonsense.

4. SC GOP is targeting this guy
He is by far the best of the 4 GOP House members. He voted against the Iraq War, and he told a maniac at one of the Townhall meetings who was talking about Obama killing old people that he should turn off Glenn Beck. He'll probably survive, but a bunch of folks are running against him in the primary. Couldn't lose the general election, since the district is home to Bob Jones University.
