Palin's new career (signs up with Speaker's Bureau)
Source: Politico

The much-courted former governor signs on with the Washington Speakers' Bureau, and to the lucrative career of public speaking that has paid the bills for Rudy Giuliani and Bill Clinton for years. (Is this a throwback to the 19th century Emerson speaking tours? Or a postmodern career of just being famous?)

Anyway, her official bio:

Known for the meteoric rise that captured the hearts and minds of a global audience, Sarah Palin is a groundbreaker who speaks on her vision for energy independence, national security, fiscal responsibility, health care and small government.

Sarah Palin is a trailblazer who understands the challenge of overcoming adversity on both a personal and professional level. Rising from small-town origins to become a dominant figure on the national scene, she served as the first female governor of Alaska and was the first woman nominated for vice president from the Republican Party. Palin is a fearless, resilient and independent voice who stands firm by the principles and values for which she holds dear. Whether working to protect taxpayers from wasteful spending or advancing the cause of special-needs children, Palin speaks passionately on her experiences confronting the issues of our time. She encourages audiences to look to the future and challenges leaders to do more to support our troops, responsibly develop domestic resources, rein in spending and shrink government while creating a fiscally responsible health care model that benefits all Americans. A powerful, no-nonsense voice for principles and reform, her memoir is scheduled for release in the spring of 2010.

Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 06:04 PM by bulloney
A dominant figure on the national scene? Only if you're a Second-Century fundie or a knuckledragger who fantasizes going to bed with her.

Confronting issues? Like William Ayers? Death panels? And all of those other red herrings that did nothing but inflame the hateful biggots that make up her base?

That Sarah Palin?

Talk about putting lipstick on a pig!

17. Does she realize she might have to show up?
She's already gotten a reputation for agreeing to appear at some 'do or other, then flaking out, claiming through her mouthpieces that she had never formally agreed to participate. If you're going to get paid for a speaking gig, my understanding is that you have to show up or the check doesn't get cut.

Now, I know that there are some people who would pay never to see or hear from this national embarrassment again, but where would I possibly send the check?

19. As for what Palin is going to China to talk about...it's a secret
Palin in China: No media allowed

Sarah Palin's speech to investors in China later this month will be closed to the media, organizers of the event confirmed to CNN Monday.

The former Alaska governor is set to address the annual CLSA Investors' Forum September 23, though the group is also declining to reveal the topic of the former GOP vice presidential candidate's closed-door speech.

"We are not disclosing the topic of Sarah Palin's presentation at this point," said Simone Wheeler, head of communications for CLSA.

Wonder if she'll take a cue from Bush's Secretary of Labor, and work for Chinese Intelligence?

38. It'll be on You Tube within minutes of her saying "thank you and God bless our troops."
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 09:17 AM by Mike Daniels
In the You Tube age I don't understand the point of "no press" or even the advance secrecy of the topic of her speech.

Unless the organizers confiscate all communication devices at the door or physically remove anyone who attempts to film Palin's speech her "gig" will be on-line before she even walks off the stage.
