WP: President Overstates Kerry's Record on Intelligence Budget...
<http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A51538-2004Mar11.html>

Excerpt:

"In terms of accuracy, the parry by the president is about half right. Bush is correct that Kerry on Sept. 29, 1995, proposed a five-year, $1.5 billion cut to the intelligence budget. But Bush appears to be wrong when he said the proposed Kerry cut -- about 1 percent of the overall intelligence budget for those years -- would have "gutted" intelligence. In fact, the Republican-led Congress that year approved legislation that resulted in $3.8 billion being cut over five years from the budget of the National Reconnaissance Office -- the same program Kerry said he was targeting."

3. Didn't they try to say Clinton gutted our military defense as well? And
Edited on Thu Mar-11-04 11:27 PM by 54anickel
wasn't that the Clinton military the so quickly claimed victory in Afghanistan since Shrub hadn't spent any money on the military yet? Think I read that in Franken's Liars book.

Yep, all those Dems are the same, gut our military and intelligence, all the things we need to wage a good old fashioned junta just to piss it away on lazy free loading unemployed and welfare queens along with fancy schools. :eyes:

10. Funny part is that Bush 41 cut the military far beyond Clinton's
...reductions (going by "before/after" numbers). In fact, if you look at GHW Bush's proposals for further defense budget cuts, that would've been in place had he won the '92 election, they were pretty much on par with what took place under Clinton.

BTW, guess who was Secretary of Defense at the time... ;)

That talking point is not gone. They knew that they are liars before they started posturing and demanding an apology, and they will continue to parrot these psuedo indignities until the lies are jammed back into their faces.

They handed Kerry a golden opportunity to force them to not be so loose with their lies by immediately pointing out this little tidbit along with about 4 other Bush & Co lies.

In fact he could pick a lie a day harp on, and still have some left over for his 2008 re-election capaign.

Good that he refuse to apologize, but, I would like to have seen him back up this statement with examples of their lies. He certainly has a plethora from which to chooose.

Half-baked, half-snookered, and half-assed, I'd say.

6. This is worth a laugh, but, at the same time, it's so sad.
I mean, Bush is drowning, and his would-be rescuers can't swim!

9. NOW The Press Gets On The Ball?
Sorry, but well informed people already knew those claims were a bald-faced lie for at least a week. Maybe if you fact-checked within the 24 hours after chimp opens his mouth, I'd be impressed.
