Fur flies as Kerry hits out at Bush's 'crooked' campaign

JOHN Kerry, the Democratic presidential candidate, was backpedaling yesterday after referring to George Bush, the United States president, and his campaign team as "the most crooked" and "lying group" he had ever seen.

The comments - which even by the standards of politics are considered over the top - were made as Mr Kerry was removing his microphone after addressing union workers in Chicago.

It was unclear if he was aware that the microphone was still live when he responded to a supporters’ encouragement by saying: "Let me tell you, we've just begun to fight. We’re going to keep pounding. These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group I’ve ever seen. It’s scary."

Marc Racicot, the chairman of the Bush re-election campaign, said Mr Kerry’s remarks were "unbecoming of a candidate for the presidency of the United States of America".

1. You must have missed it...he's backing off nothing...he refused to

apologize, said that Bush needs to concentrate on real issues, and managed to call the whole Bush cabal liars and crooks again without specifically saying those words...it rocked. The guy has balls.
