Giuliani to campaign for GOP in Mass. election
Source: Associated Press

BOSTON - The campaign by the Republican seeking the late Edward Kennedy's Senate seat is bringing in some firepower to back up his tough talk about terrorists — Rudolph Giuliani.

Giuliani, who was mayor of New York City when terrorists struck on Sept. 11, 2001, plans to campaign for Scott Brown at an event in Boston on Friday.

* * *

Brown has been arguing for tough treatment of would-be terrorists. He says they should be designated enemy combatants and handled within the military tribunal system.

Coakley supports President Barack Obama's decision to close Guantanamo Bay and handle suspected terrorists within the civilian system, including in New York courtrooms.

I think this election will be eye opening on whether residents in a liberal state such as Massachusetts support trying suspected terrorists in the U.S. court system. My take is that Coakley should win so long as Democrats don't take such a victory for granted. However, if she loses, then expect Republicans to use this victory to assert a mandate to reject rule of law.

1. Oh, was Giuliani mayor of NYC when 9/11 occurred? I don't think I've heard him mention that. nt

5. That was my thought.
Is he popular there? I would have thought anyone wanting to get elected would be trying to keep him at arms length.

6. Damn, I really want to vote against the healthcare bill, and Coakley is no where
nearly progressive enough to support, but how much am I willing to take to vote against a Democrat who wants to support this corporate giveaway. I don't believe I could affirmatively choose a candidate with Rudy.911's recommendation. I guess I will just have to sit home. The Republicans are the only ones who can save the Democrats. I think Brown would have been much smarter in Massachusetts just to have campaigned on the failings of the bill.

4. The Teabaggers are on their way too.

http://www.meetup.com/ I am deleting the link. I wouldn't want to encourage any freepers here.

"We are joining Tea Party groups from all over the east coast to assist the Scott Brown campaign in Massachusetts to ensure a win for Liberty in the special election to fill the senate seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy.

Scott Brown is the republican candidate and is poling just one point higher than his liberal opposition. Every volunteer matters! You can make the difference:

7. When the Republicans have no substance, they roll out the emotional appeal
Here they go, the Republicans are in full emotional appeal with Giuliani. Visions of the World Trade Center and flag waving.

For some reason, I see Sarah Palin with rifle in hand, holding up the bloody head of a dead moose myself

16. All Coakley needs to do is show footage of Rudy in his box at Yankee Stadium
then juxtapose that with shots of Rudy next to Brown(shirt).

Apparently Rudy is so full of himself he actually thinks voters care what he thinks.

...who was very good friends with Ted Kennedy, and here is Brown relying on Mr. Yankee, Rudy Guiliani.
