2 Germans, 2 Iraqis reported dead in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq --
Two German civilians working on a water supply project and two Iraqis - a driver and a policeman, were killed in a drive-by shooting Tuesday south of Baghdad, police and hospital officials said.

Two Iraqi police officers also were wounded in the attack on the outskirts of the town of Mussayab, 45 miles south of Baghdad, said Dr. Jamal Kadhim, head of the emergency department at Mussayab General Hospital.

Kadhim said he saw the passports of the two Germans, and said they were water experts working on a development project. He did not know their names.

Police chief Col. A'ayed Omran confirmed that two Germans were killed. He said they were working on a project at Al-Razzaza, a lake near the southern city of Karbala.

1. Sounds like those nutty I-rackies have a problem with water treatment
isn't this the second group of civilians trying to get clean water to Mosul? Must be really peaving off the locals.

7. Yeap
Let the Iraqi's rebuild Iraq, turn the Halliburtona nd Bechtel contracts over to local companies, and watch the violence drop as the people there get a vested interest (and paychecks) in rebuilding their country.

4. I would travel around Iraq unescorted
Oh, for about $1 million a week!

So we've learned from our Babtist missionary thread in GD. Bad Iraqi gunmen! Bad bad bad Iraqi gunmen! Doncha know that you're actually preventing the improvment of your country? Bad, naughty, terrible people, you are!

Now that that's done, let me be the first to say: Any Westerners in Iraq on a volunteer (i.e., non-military) basis know the risks they are taking. It ain't fucking Disneyland over there, y'know?

6. A tragedy of invading foreign countries
Is that even the well intentioned and innocent get killed. Another reason why democratic leaders should restrain themselves from lying their way into needless military invasions.
